
Colonel William Tavington, or only known as William Tavington, is the main antagonist of the 2000 historical film called ''The Patriot''.

Then when a young man signs up for the Continental Army and during the American Revolution that took place in 1776, he is forced to return to his father's home a war veteran from France and India named Benjamin Martin. Gabriel listens to news of the Tavington massacre and brutally attacks him and his men in the camp. And when only Tavington remains, he then shoots him and he falls to the ground. And without wanting to know if he is really dead, Gabriel approaches the body to check if he is really dead in an attempt to stab him to make sure. However, Tavington cunningly gets up and stabs him and runs away. Benjamin appears and consoles his dying son in his arms. And he gathers strenght to continue fighting and after remembering Gabriel's dedication to the cause.
Benjamin and his followers attack Cornwallis' forces in a tough battle. Benjamin then has a confrontation with Tavington in which he drops him off the horse and prepares to kill him, but ends up hitting him in the shoulder after an explosion distracts him. Tavington then seizes the opportunity and attacks him with a sword but however, despite Benjamin trying to block him, he is beaten by Tavington and when Tavington prepares to kill him; Benjamin then hands down just in time and stabs him with a bayonet that he picked up nearby. Benjamin then takes revenge and stabs him repeatedly.
