“ | First, what are these new lifeforms? Since their explosive arrival on Earth in 1931, there has been much debate on what these newcomers are. Are they extraterrestrials coming to invade Earth? Or are they demons who have come from Hell to purge humanity? According to our scientists, no. | „ |
~ A brief introduction to the Vita Carnis species in the documentary. |
Vita Carnis are the titular main antagonists of the speculative biology analogue-horror web-series of the same name.
They are a mysterious taxonomic family comprised of eight species of monstrous entities, all of which are composed entirely of meat that terrorize the globe in search of devouring humans and animals. They are the subjects of a mysterious cult that seek to exploit their properties for the good of humanity.
History[]
The creatures have been around since World War II, in which they were known for devouring people in the sewers of Germany. The origins of the creatures are unknown, though it's implied that they were created by the mysterious Singularity for the deal of helping the world governments with Earth's dwindling resources in return for devouring humans and other organisms and people investigate about it. The organisms primarily hunt meat (smaller organisms such as The Crawl or Meat Snakes prefer smaller creatures or dead ones while larger entities feed on larger prey, namely humans) and members of the Vita Carnis species do not target one another.
Living Meat Research Documentary - Full Footage[]
In a documentary made by the National Living Meat Research (N.L.R.M.), the Vita Carnis are described and analyzed. However, footage unexpectedly changes to show a man being stalked and murdered by a Mimic, and a hiker before being ambushed and brainwashed by a Host. The footage also shows classified information about the Singularity, which results in the government shutting down the documentary.
Cook At Home Kitchen - Cheese Crawl Penne Cook-along[]
A description of a dish that is made using the Crawl. At the end of the video, a mysterious powder resembling the Host’s brainwashing spores called "Flavour Enhancer" is added, and the chef is seen wearing a gas mask.
Guide to owning a pet Trimming[]
A video is made detailing the Trimming’s non-hostility and that they are even kept as pets. The video then goes into detail about their preferred lifestyle, including preferred temperature, social desires, and joy of the TV and Radio.
MeatSnakeSpecimen - Archived Footage[]
A description of the first discovered Meat Snake in WWII Germany, where it was discovered in a sewer and had grown to a massive size after eating corpses of war victims.
Mimic defense instructional tape[]
After a series of Mimic attacks, the government releases a video detailing methods of surviving a Mimic, including potential weak points and intimidation methods. After the video ends, it changes to footage of two individuals (Christopher & Janice) walking into the woods. The two arrive in an isolated area where they read confidential information before being attacked and killed by a Mimic.
Species Anomaly Report[]
A message appears detailing that there has been a shift in Harvester populations.
Afterwards, a boy is playing in the woods before being attacked, being slowly and painfully killed by a Harvester. His mother arrives and screams at the sight before she too is killed by the Harvester.
Flavour Enhancer Commercial[]
Nutrire Co.'s newest product, the "Flavour Enhancer", is advertised. Everything seems normal until the first person speaking starts to sound more sad as he continues to talk. The second speaker soon repeats his actions. Throughout the video, a frequency slowly gets louder and louder with the Flavour Enhancer on screen. Soon, the frequency is very high-pitched, and depictions of multiple hands grasping at the Flavour Enhancer are shown. This is likely due to potential brainwashing spores within the Enhancer.
UncoveredDocuments[]
Although a series of images and videos, the main focus of the video is confidential info on Nutrire Co.'s "Flavour Enhancer" not being safe for consumption. Possibly photos of the Host's spines and spores are flashed briefly, backing up the claim, as well as the group "C.A.R.C.A.S" being attacked. At the end, text reading "NEW LOG - MESSAGE TO CARCAS" is typed, which leads into the next video.
Message[]
In the beginning, what seems to be an informative video about the Monoliths begins playing. It soon switches to an unknown person with a deepened voice speaking about Vita Carnis. He speaks about planning to uncover and expose the truth behind Vita Carnis and what officials are hiding from everyone. As he talks, news clippings from the original documentary and photos from the following videos are shown. After a while of the stranger talking, the video cuts back to the Monolith informative video.
Facility-0[]
In a secret government facility with connections to the Singularity, an organization called "C.A.R.C.U.S." plans on infiltrating the facility and exposing the truth on the Vita Carnis species. They arrive near the facility and incapacitate a Harvester that was outside of the facility. After infiltrating the facility, the group find themselves face-to-face with cult members worshiping a circular device, most likely all of the Singularities.
Makeship Promo - Trimming Plush (Emergence)[]
[THIS VIDEO WAS ORIGINALLY TITLED "Emergence" AS A NAME FOR THE LIVE PREMIERE. IT HAS SINCE BEEN CHANGED.]
The video starts off as a black screen before it cuts to someone exiting their home to (seemingly) their backyard. They turn on a flashlight and begin investigating strange noises coming from their backyard. They point the light down a long walkway to the end of a fence and begin walking towards it. The noise gets louder before the flashlight suddenly stops working. Audible sounds of the person trying to turn on the flashlight are heard. When the flashlight turns on, the noises stop and a Trimming plush is shown in the grass. The video then cuts to a promo for the brand new Trimming plush (only available until July 28th for $29.99). However, mid-commercial, we see the first ever animation from Darian in the Vita Carnis series, featuring a newly designed Mimic standing up and looking at the viewer for a while before rushing towards the camera. The commercial then starts to play again after the screen glitches out. During the Mimic animation, text is shown on the bottom. It reads: "*Trimmings will not assist you in a mimic encounter or against low budget costumes" as a nod to the Mimic defense instructional tape, where feedback on the Mimic costume was described as "goofy" or "low budget".
Sub-Species[]
- The Crawl - A fungus-like entity that latches onto a solid surface, usually buildings. They look like blood red roots and are very resilient to weather and such. They are known for being delicious and beneficial for crops, turning into rich compost for plants. It is also the main source of reproduction among the Carnis species, as it can produce a great majority of the other species.
- Trimmings - Small creatures that resemble a cross between a crab and a mole rat that are born from the Crawl. They mainly eat dead creatures. They are harmless for that reason and enjoy things like TVs. People have taken to turning them into pets.
- Meat Snakes - Carnivorous snakes who mainly eat deceased creatures to grow and are famous for wearing the skulls of their victims.
- Mimics - Carnivorous humanoid entities who primarily attack and eat humans. They are highly intelligent and are known for disguising themselves as humans or hiding in furniture to surprise their intended victims. The more they eat humans, the more that they seem to blend into the human species, though with glaring imperfections if you're looking for them. They're seemingly the main antagonists and mascots of the Vita Carnis series.
- Harvesters - Large lumps of flesh that burrow themselves in the ground and use their roots to surprise victims and inject a toxin that makes them die of blood-loss.
- Hosts - Entities that have a humanoid appearance and burrow themselves in the ground. On their backs are spikes that release orange spores which are capable of temporarily hypnotizing other animals to go to the hosts, in order for them to feed.
- Monoliths - Entities that are 120 meters tall (393.701 feet) and usually root themselves in a circle (presumably in honor of the Singularity) and are invulnerable to pain. They seemingly popped up a few decades after all the other members of the Vita Carnis. Although towering, they are harmless, unless approached.
- The Singularity - A sub-species of powerful entities who are the supposed head of the creatures who can interfere with electric signals. Not much is known about them and it's very unclear as to why.
