V1RS is the main antagonist of the Roblox indie comedy game Grocery Store.
He is the arch-nemesis of H4CKR who lives in a decayed instance of the player's world and wants to steal the console in order to manipulate the entire world in his own way. After the player achieved all of the endings, they eventually find V1RS and stop him once and for all with the power of all the people he met earlier, turning them into a new form. Despite his defeat, V1RS latches on to H4CKR, leading to him eventually sacrificing himself to delete the world, taking himself with it.
Appearance[]
When taking over H4CKER, V1RS looks nearly identical to him, but he has large white eyes and his body is covered in a red substance. He is also seen twitching.
His true appearance is not seen throughout the entire game, only red substance can be seen to signify his appearance.
Personality[]
V1RS is a tyrannical entity who's only desire is to do anything he wants to the world, including mass destruction and hegemony.
Biography[]
V1RS only appears in the game when the player takes the Finale route, which is triggered when all the endings prior to this one were completed.
After the player opened the mysterious hatch using the key Dave gave them, they are brought inside a room full of binary code, where they meet an entity known as H4CKER, who is confirmed to be the overseer of every instance of the world, including the player's. He tells them that in another instance of their world, there is a threat known as V1RS, who he was attempting to defeat earlier, but in vain. He also says that he could've deleted the instance, but he reveals that there is also a console in that world as well. Not wanting to be caught by V1RS, he sends the player and himself in the decayed instance. However, V1RS has blocked their path with a wall, leading to the player using the computer in Dave's house to allow them and H4CKER to move forward. As the player helps him go through the corrupted walls, he is eventually possessed by V1RS through a substance leaking out of the sewers. He then thanks H4CKER for the new body he accidentaly gave him, finally getting access to both consoles. They player then goes to the store and uses the secondary console to teleport to V1RS's world to confront him.
V1RS then mocks the player on thinking that it would be that easy to stop him, as he now has the console with him. He then reveals himself as the infection that spreads through countless worlds just for the sake of doing anything to the way he likes, before jumping down in the abyss and resurfacing as a colossal version of himself. As it seemed that all hope was lost at first, a voice calls the player out. The player turns around and sees all of their friends they met earlier, who encourages the player to defeat V1RS once and for all with the console, as little does V1RS know is that since the console can do literally anything, the player can also use it to also achieve the ultimate power like V1RS did, therefore backfiring his plan. The player then uses the console and transforms into their ultimate form, before engaging V1RS in an ultimate final battle.
Boss Battle and Death[]
During the battle, V1RS uses multiple attacks, like spikes that he summons towards the player and striking red lightning on the ground. All you need to do is simply survive for a few minutes. V1RS is eventually defeated by the player offscreen, but despite this, it managed to latch on H4CKER who, before he sacrifices himself to delete the world and take V1RS with him, thanks the player for helping them and that he wished to stay with them forever, before telling them that they have groceries to buy. After the player leaves, H4CKER deletes the instance, sacrificing his life for the greater good, killing V1RS and ending his reign of terror for good.
Trivia[]
- Despite being the final boss of the game, he can be quite easy to beat, as it is possible to stay still and simply jump above the spikes, as the lightning only strikes in a specified pattern.
- It is advised to not touch the substance after V1RS takes over H4CKER's body, as doing so would result in instant death, kicking you from the game with the text message being gibberish.
- Despite being killed by H4CKER who sacrificed his own life in order to save the world by deleting the decayed instance, his plan posthumously succeeded, even though the player's world was left intact.
