Todd Grimshaw was the son of Eileen Grimshaw. Todd upset his mother by choosing to enter into a relationship With Sarah Platt, instead of going to university, especially as Sarah had a baby daughter in spite of being a teenager. Todd became confused about his sexuality and kissed Sarah's brother Nick Tilsley which Nick informed Sarah of however Todd made the excuse that it was just a drunken moment. Todd began an affair with nurse Karl foster who left him when he refused to break up With Sarah When Todd confessed what had happened to Sarah which caused her to go into premature labor resulting in the death of their son Billy. After Todd's outing Les Battersby regularly taunted him over his sexuality until the regulars of of the rovers stood up for Todd, which made Les back down as he could have risked getting barred if he didn't do so. When Todd found Sarah in bed with his brother Jason he slapped her before then leaving the street. Years later Sarah's brother David was upset Sarah hadn't invited him to her wedding to Jason and sent Todd an invitation in an effort to sabotage it. David's plan didn't work however as Todd made up with everyone and served as Jason's best man. While in London Todd got with a man named Sam only to be heartbroken When Sam left him unfairly blaming Todd for infecting him With HIV which made Todd into a darker and crueler person he got with Jools crème but they split up When Todd had an affair With Alex Hughes. Together Todd and Alex planned a trip to New York With Alex providing Todd with spending money however Todd failed to show up at the airport and sent a text to Alex informing him that he was dumped. Todd had went back to the street and when Alex turned up demanding money Eileen paid him off to leave her son alone. Todd tried to make a pass at Marcus Dent who was in a relationship With Maria Sutherland but was caught by Eileen. The men later did sleep together though Marcus was guilt ridden. The second time they were about to sleep together they were caught by Maria which caused her separation from Marcus for which Marcus blamed Todd and moved to London to get away from him. Todd admitted to Jason's father Tony Stewart that his interest in Marcus had been purely financial and intended to end things when he got all the money he could out from him. When Marcus visited Maria's son Liam Todd began acting like a victim and accused Marcus of betraying him. When Marcus tried to make amends Todd told him to leave. The next day Todd pretended to have a cold to get rid of Marcus and went out with a friend instead. Todd then slept with his friend and dumped Marcus leaving him angry and distraught When Todd was employed at Jason's builders yard he was advised by Tony to take short cuts in order to save money. Acting on this Todd used cheap wood for Tyrone Dobbs loft conversion and forced builder Gary Windass to go along with it by threatening him with the sack. When Tyrone fell through the cheap wood Todd's family responded by disowning him. This deeply upset Todd and he tried to sort things out by organizing a meeting at the Bistro with his family when everyone failed to turn up an upset Todd left which caused him to be mugged, beaten and hospitalized though this moved Jason and Eileen to forgive him Todd blamed them for the attack and his feelings of resentment led him to plan revenge. He manipulated Jason into believing Tony was having an affair with his girlfriend Eva Price which caused Jason and Eva to break-up. after coaxing his mother into internet dating Todd posed as a man named Jeff intentionally ruining Eileen's relationship With Adrian Mortimer by making Adrian feel used when he revealed the truth. When Jason stood up to drug dealer Callum Logan who had tormented Sarah's family Callum responded by badly beating him leaving him in hospital. Todd went to the hospital asking about his brother needing a kidney transplant expressing willingness to be a donor himself. After seeing this selfness Eileen reconciled with her son and took him to visit Jason where the two brothers made up. from that point on Todd was a supportive presence in the lives of his family. Todd and Tony also worked to get revenge on Callum by torching his car. When Callum's body was uncovered and it looked out Jason or Sarah could get the blame Todd told the police that Tony who had had confessed to killing Callum which devastated Jason as he was still grieving for his father and didn't like having to think of him as a murderer. Todd also dated Vicar Billy Mayhew and tried to look out for Eileen by attempting to expose the calcutta street scam ran by Vinny Ashford and her boyfriend Pat Phelan. Phelan talked Todd into joining in on the con in exchange for guaranteed protection for his family's investments though Vinny betrayed Todd and Phelan. Todd and Billy fostered a girl named Summer Spellman who they both cared for deeply but problems arose when Billy attacked Peter Barlow when they had an argument after Peter's son Simon had gave her drugs after having mistaking it for a cigarette. which had caused her to overdose, although Peter decided to let things go as he felt Summer had been put through enough and didn't want to make her life more difficult. Billy's conscience got the best of him and he decided to tell the police. Todd later found Billy and his friends had been involved in the crash that killed Peter's sister Susan but insisted to Billy that he didn't jeopardize his family life by going to the police. Peter defended Billy in court and got him off with community service, however when Billy was stabbed outside the court he thought he was going to die and remorsefully confessed to Peter. When Todd was told of this he tried convincing Peter to not to contact the authorities on Billy. As part of his vengeance Peter called Summer's homophobic grandmother Geraldine, telling her Billy was an unfit parent, after this Todd ran off with Summer and went on the run when he assaulted a police officer. Todd had a left a letter for Billy but Susan's son Adam burnt it.
