The Thing is the main antagonist of the 1982 and 2011 movie The Thing directed by John Carpenter. The Thing has the ability to assimilate other life forms in order to survive and flourish. The original physical characteristics of the Thing are unknown as it could have absorbed hundreds if not thousands of other species before it crashed on Earth.
