The Skogsrå is a major antagonist in the video game Bramble: The Mountain King. It is a hostile forest spirit that lures men into the forest in order to either devour them or drive them insane, thus increasing its blood magic any time it claims another victim. Due to not being able to lure him using its beauty, the Skogsrå lures the game's protagonist Olle by taking the form of his beloved sister Lillemor and trying to kill him, forcing him to fight and kill it himself.
It was voiced by Nola Klop when imitating Lillemor.
Appearance[]
The Skogsrå takes the form of an enchanting woman so that it can lure men into the forest, although this is not its true form. Its true form that it reveals during its fight with Olle has grey skin, a tail, horns, dark hair, and is covered in moss. Most notably, there is a gap in the Skogsrå's back that leaves its heart exposed. Due to its shapeshifting abilities, it has likely taken several forms overtime such as when it disguises itself as Lillemor.
Personality[]
The Skogsrå is shown to be a carnivorous and sadistic entity, luring people to their deaths or driving them to insanity. Its kills are extremely brutal and sadistic, ripping people's chests open, hanging them from trees, and fueling its blood magic by drawing power from their beating hearts right before they died. It is also quite intelligent as when it comes across Olle it recognizes that it will be unable to lure him using enchanting beauty, and instead takes the form of his missing beloved sister, luring him into the forest where it proceeded to try and kill him. It is also extremely cowardly and manipulative, as it will shake its head to try and beg for its life, and if Olle chooses to spare it then the Skogsrå will immediately kill him anyways.
Biography[]
At some point in the past there was a village living peacefully in a large forest. Things took a turn when people reported sighting a beautiful women with long and dark hair while walking in the woods, with men following it in only to never return. The ones who did return would have been driven to insanity, sewing fear and paranoia in the village. This led to the village putting all of the women that matched the description on trial and executing them for witchcraft, although this did nothing to stop the disappearances. Desperate, the villagers began burning down the forest to try and find the woman, but failed and eventually turned on each other, killing all of the women in the village. On the night of a full moon, five men wandered through the forest to try and hunt the woman, but upon reaching her they were enchanted by her beauty and lured to their deaths. Eventually, a boy named Olle would venture into the forest looking for his missing sister Lillemor. The Skogsrå takes the form of Lillemor in order to lure Olle to it, and attempts to devour him. Enraged by this, Olle uses his powerful magic light stone in order to destroy the bodies of the men that power the Skogsrå's blood magic and leaves it powerless. He then stabs its exposed heart, and when it tries to crawl away he proceeds to stab it multiple times in the head, finally killing it for good.
Trivia[]
- The player can have Olle stab the Skogsrå infinitely and will gain an achievement if they do it over one-hundred times.
- To further drive the point of its sadistic and power hungry nature, Skogsrå's killing spree saw it rid of most, if not all of human population of the village near its territory.
- The Skogsrå is one of the few bosses that Olle fights directly.
