The Overlord is a primordial, yet sinister spirit who sought to plunge the world of Ninjago and the other realms of Creation into complete and total Darkness.
He is voiced by Scott McNeil, who also voices Clouse and Nadakhan in the same series.
Biography[]
The Overlord first appeared as a draconic being who waged a war against the First Spinjitzu Master for control over the land, and after a lengthy conflict between him and the creator, the Overlord was banished to the Dark Island. Not willing to resign in defeat, however, the forbadding entity began his grand plan; he corrupted a lone viper, the Great Devourer, into biting the First Spinjitzu Master's elder son, Garmadon. The Devourer’s bite resulted in the boy's downfall into villainy. Thousands of years later, Garmadon would wash up on the Dark Island and would join forces with the spirit, although to only be used by the Overlord as a vessel for his return.
Sometime after being defeated by Lloyd Garmadon, the Overlord would invade the Digiverse and would begin to wreck havoc once again, and plotted to become the prophesied Golden Master with help from his Nindroid army. The Overlord was defeated yet again, although Zane was taken down with him.
A few years after the Nindroid crisis, the Overlord would resurface for a third time, going under the alias of the Crystal King. He promised Harumi that he would bring peace in the darkness if she agreed to serve him. After the former princess constructed a legion of warriors out of Vengestone and recruiting some of the Ninja's past enemies to aid him, the Overlord launched an attack on Ninjago City, where a rag-tag resistance was formed to help stop him. Despite the Crystal King's overwhelming forces and fleeting victory, he was seemingly defeated by Lloyd and a tail swipe from the Golden Ultra Dragon.
