The Invader is the main antagonist of the 2025 Warner Bros. Animation science-fiction comedy film The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, the film adaptation of the MAX original series Looney Tunes Cartoons and the first fully-animated original feature film in the Looney Tunes franchise.

He is the member of an alien species who commands his own forces aboard his battleship to the Earth with the intent to take it over. Once at his reach, the Invader uses Petunia Pig's newly-invented bubblegum product to infect the planet's population with his brainwashing technology, effectively subjecting all of humanity under his command, forcing Petunia to team up with Daffy Duck and Porky Pig to foil the Invader's plans and save the world.

He was voiced by Peter MacNicol, who also played Janosz Poha in Ghostbusters II, Gary Granger in Addams Family Values, R.M. Renfield in Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Fenwick in Recess: School's Out!, X the Eliminator in Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, Man-Bat in The Batman, Chronos in Justice League Unlimited, Doctor Octopus in The Spectacular Spider-Man, Professor Ivo in Young Justice and the Mad Hatter in the Batman: Arkham video game series.

Personality[]

Upon first being introduced, The Invader shows all the hallmarks of the classic b-movie alien villains that serve as the foundation to the film; over-the-top, vicious, maniacal, malicious, paranoid, and especially single-minded in his goal to brainwash all of earth to get his way. From his twisted expressions to his hysterical laughter upon successfully 'blowing up' the earth, The Invader stands out as an obvious homage that wouldn't be out of place in any other sci-fi throwback setting. Occasionally, he's shown to be sassy through brief remarks made towards the brainwashed scientist or Porky and Daffy upon capturing them and at times he loses his temper such as when Porky and Petunia manage to free several humans from his control. The Invader throws all he can at them while continuing to lose numbers and goes as far as to destroy his own equipment and even slam the scientist against the computer screen as he fails.

But underneath the veneer of a cartoony villain belies a more pragmatic, less wicked figure than The Invader lets on. For while he did go forward with brainwashing countless people all across the world and had no qualms against using them as minions to fight off the heroes, his true intentions were not to take over the world but rather save it from a meteor hurtling towards the planet, all to protect its most precious resource: boba tea. This can be foreshadowed early on when he sends the scientist to bring him boba only for him to come back with 'novelty teeth' (ironically having the same synonyms as boba tea) as well as him drinking boba early on in the film. Once his initial plans are foiled and he's forced to work alongside the heroes, The Invader becomes more friendly and cooperative, though no less whacky than any other characters with how he frets over the understandably potential failure of the planet's fate before ultimately celebrating with everyone following the meteor's destruction. He's even invited to Porky and Daffy's mansion at the end of the film, proving that no matter how inane and villainous he first seemed to be, deep down The Invader was more good-natured than he let on, graduating from an antagonist, and not a true villain, towards a reluctant ally who gets away with his original plans by helping the heroes.

The Earth was in danger of being destroyed by a giant meteor. The Invader realized this and started a plan to save the planet. To pull this off, he brainwashed a scientist to help him infest some soon-to-be-released-gum with alien goo in order to brainwash the entire population into blowing a big bubble to encase the Earth. However, there were three individuals who did not chew the gum. Upon noticing this, the Invader saw the three as a threat to his plan and had his zombies chase after them.

He manages to brainwash Petunia, and with her eventually captures Daffy and Porky.

After he successfully encases the Earth, Daffy and Porky escape and subdue him. After that, they pop the bubble. It is then that he reveals his true intentions to them of trying to protect the Earth from the meteor as the Earth is the only source of boba tea. Together, Porky, Daffy, Petunia, the Invader, and the Scientist come up with a new plan to save the Earth by blowing up the meteor using explosive gum that Petunia made. As the gum needed to be chewed, the Invader provided some wind up teeth that the Scientist brought to him while he was brainwashed.

In the end, the Earth is saved, and the Invader happily enjoys some boba tea and was most likely pardoned for his crimes, but was presumably charged in community service for brainwashing, but he quickly accepts.

Trivia[]

The Invader is the first theatrical Looney Tunes villain to come from a fully animated film that includes no live-action characters nor scenarios, as Judge Doom, Mr. Swackhammer, Mr. Chairman and Al-G Rhythm all appeared in hybrid films.
- Like his predecessors The Invader also spies on his enemies on the monitors to watch their every move. But unlike Swackhammer, The Chairman, Al-G and even Judge Doom, The Invader does not have five main team members to assist him but rather a temporary army of zombified gum chewers.
- The Invader is the second villain to be an animated character instead of live action since Mr. Swackhammer from Space Jam was the original, while he is also an alien himself.
He is also the first Looney Tunes movie villain to redeem himself and have noble goals, being in this case protecting Earth from an asteroid.
