Biography[]
Blackbird[]
The Blackbird is a fictional character created by Nole and his friend Sam for the film they're making for their filmography class. In the movie Nole and Sam want to create, The Blackbird, whose features were inspired by both the animatronics at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven", was supposed to haunt the main character at night and force him to reveal his darkest secrets.
With the help of his mom and his dad, Sam creates a costume for the character and meets with Nole on set to start recording. Jokingly, they ask each other what their darkest secrets are. Nole reveals to Sam that he used to bully a girl named Christine (who was overweight and poor) when he was twelve, but, despite asserting that he's not proud of it, Nole doesn't seem to feel sorry for what he did at all, still finding his actions hilarious. Sam, being a victim of bullying himself, becomes furious and leaves the set with his costume after a brief argument. Later that day, Nole discovers that Sam had been run over by a train and was declared missing, as his body could not be found, the only things remaining on the train tracks being black feathers and blood.
Nole blames himself for what happened, thinking that Sam got hit because he didn't pay attention to his surroundings, being still angry due to the argument he had with Noah. Shortly afterwards, Nole starts to perceive a presence following him everywhere, a feathered fiend always out of sight. Later, as he attempts to sleep, he experience sleep paralysis episodes, during which he's attacked by the Blackbird; the episode stops once a shaft of light enters the room. He figures the Blackbird had somehow come to life or that Sam had come back from the dead to punish him for his past actions, haunting the Blackbird's costume, and that he's now going to torture and maybe even kill him. The creature keeps attacking Nole whenever he tries to sleep, becoming increasingly vicious, although the Blackbird still vanishes every time Nole turned on the light. Eventually he feels the Blackbird sitting on him, pressing against his chest and preventing him from breathing while he's stuck in his body, unable to move but still perfectly conscious. He feels like he's being dragged to another realm where the Blackbird would torture him, maybe forever. He's only saved thanks to his fraternity brother Ian, who breaks into his room after hearing his muffled screams.
Following the advice of Amber (a classmate of his), Nole decides he has to apologize to Christine, the girl he had bullied all those years ago, hoping that doin so will make the Blackbird stop haunting him. When finally manages to find Christine, he apologies to her, finally understanding how horrible his actions had been. After Christine decides to forgive him, Nole feels a wake has been lifted from his chest, and does not perceive the Blackbird's presence anymore. Nolee then receives a call and rushes back to his college: Sam was found, alive and with a broken leg, meaning The Blackbird wasn't him. The two meet again and reconcile.
Epilogue 10[]
When Larson enters inside Doctor Talbert's house and sees Eleanor, the latter takes him on a tormenting trip down her own memories. After hopping between many scenarios, Larson ends up in a field near a railroad and he sees Eleanor spinning Sam (who is wearing the Blackbird costume) around and leaving him on the tracks. Larson, however, is able to change the outcome, pushing Sam out of the way and making him land in a ditch.
