Sutekh, or Sutekh the Destroyer, Sutekh was an all powerful Osirian, who wished to destroy all life, so that none could challenge him. He acts as the main villain of the Doctor Who episode Pyramids of Mars, and also features in other media.

He is voiced by Gabriel Woolf.

History[]

Backstory[]

Sutekh destroyed his home planet Phaester Osiris and subsequently left a "trail of havoc across half the galaxy". During this time, he was called many names, including the Typhonian Beast, Set, and Sadok. He was eventually cornered on Earth in Ancient Egypt, by 740 surviving Osirians, and after being defeated in a great battle, which ere recorded on the tomb of Thutmosis the III. Sutekh was entombed but alive in a pyramid in Saqqara in Egypt, for seven thousand years by 1911. The Eye of Horus on Mars beamed a signal to suppress Sutekh's powers and hold him prisoner. The tales of the Osirans were remembered in Egyptian mythology. Sutekh still retained a cult of followers, such as Ibrahim Namin.

Pyramids of Mars[]

In 1911, Sutekh's prison was disturbed by Egyptologist Marcus Scarman, who Sutekh immediately killed, and reanimated his corpse. Sutekh used him and the Osirian service robots to construct a missile at Scarman's priory in England to destroy the Eye of Horus, and thus Sutekh was able to restart his destruction after travelling via time corridor to England. The Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith managed to destroy the missile, with Sarah blowing it up, to which Sutekh held back the explosion with his mental power, and the Doctor distracting him, ensuring the missiles destruction.

However, Sutekh managed to gain control of the Doctor's mind, and took Scarman and the robots to Mars in his TARDIS. After the Doctor shaking off Sutekh's control after an attempt on his life, he was unable to stop Scarman from destroying the Eye. After Sutekh was freed, and started travelling down the corridor, the Doctor delayed him almost indefinitely, by moving the end of the corridor to the far future. Caught in a temporal trap, he pleaded with the Doctor, offering to spare Earth, but the Doctor left him in the corridor, effectively ageing him to death.
