Starscream is a copy of the original Starscream, created by Alpha Q, and is secondary antagonist in Energon and Cybertron. While the original Starscream was somewhat anti-heroic in Armada, in Energon and Cybertron he becomes a straight-up villain, serving as a secondary antagonist. Throughout Energon, Starscream was brainwashed to be a servant, first of Alpha Q, then of Megatron, and in Cybertron, having gained free will, Starscream would become a third party in the War.
History[]
Energon[]
Ten years after the original Starscream's death, when Megatron seized control of Unicron's body by ousting its former occupant, Alpha Quintesson. Alpha Q needed an assassin to eliminate Megatron so that he could return to recreating the worlds destroyed by Unicron. Using what energon he had left, Alpha Q recreated Starscream. However, Alpha Q ran out of energon before the process could be completed, leaving Starscream incomplete. He had none of the original's memory, and his body was unstable, constantly shifting from a physical to an ethereal form, able to teleport by "ghosting" from location to location.
Alpha Q unleashed Starscream upon Ocean City, where he battled Optimus Prime and then tracked Megatron back to Unicron's body. His new abilities proved no match for the Decepticon leader, who used Unicron's power to brainwash Starscream, turning him into his right-hand man and most loyal subordinate. Rather ironically, Megatron treated this Starscream respectfully, entrusting him with some of the most difficult missions.
Later, when Megatron became Galvatron after immersing himself in a subterranean reservoir of super energon, Starscream was allowed to do the same as a reward for his loyalty; the influx of power stabilized his physical form, while allowing him to retain his teleporting powers. When Galvatron was subsequently possessed by Unicron, Primus used the super energon to create a sun, and Galvatron plunged himself into it in order to contain Unicron's spark within it. Starscream loyally dived into the sun alongside his leader.
Cybertron[]
Plotting against Megatron[]
In Fallen, the sun collapsed a decade later, freeing Megatron and Starscream and creating a black hole that threatened to devour the entire universe. Starscream also managed to gain free will and began plotting against Megatron, while continuing to feign loyalty until an oppertune moment. From within their new base, a fire dimension, the duo made their move when they learned that the ancient Vector Prime had approached the Autobots on Cybertron with information about the legendary Cyber Planet Keys, which could be used to seal the black hole. While Starscream caused a distraction, attacking the Autobots outside their base, Megatron stole Vector Prime's map to the Cyber Planet Key locations. Starscream grappled with Landmine, and sent him tumbling toward the black hole, then carried his leader away to safety on the back of his vehicle mode. The two were also joined by Thundercracker.
By the time of Speed, Starscream stole the real Planet Map from Megatron and replaced it with a copy. After a successful training session, Starscream updated Megatron on his search for the Omega Lock. After being chastised for his failures, Starscream began plotting for the future, secretly revealing the real map. Starscream discovered Thundercracker had tried to lure the Autobots to him with a huge spotlight. He was willing to exploit the opportunity to put his training to the test, but when humans drew near their battleground, he surprised Optimus Prime by calling the fight off so that they could ensure their existence was kept secret from Earth's populace. He later took the Decepticons newest recruits, Ransack and Crumplezone to the planet Velocitron test their abilities against the Autobot Red Alert.
In Ship, Starscream later tracked down the location of the starship Atlantis, as did the Autobots. While the Autobots and the Decepticons fought, Starscream was ambushed by Sideways, who appeared to be on the Autobots' side until he turned. After the Autobots obtained the Omega Lock from the ship, Starscream called retreat as the ship exploded. In Race, Starscream recruited the former Autobot Mudflap to the Decepticons, who had become disillusioned after being forced to hide on Earth, as well as Sideways in Savage.
In Trap, while Megatron's group left in search of the third key using the fake map, Starscream headed to Earth, where the key's true location was. Starscream's fake map later trapped Megatron and the majority of his Decepticons in a metallic sphere. On Earth, Starscream discovered a cavern full of imprisoned ancient Decepticons. Starscream freed the Decepticons to serve him. Starscream then had his Decepticons fly into the sky and start patrolling Earth in search of the Omega Lock and the Cyber Planet Keys. In Invasion, the Autobots attempted to fight Starscream directly, but Starscream managed to wound Optimus Prime and force them to retreat. In Retreat, Starscream followed the Autobots back to their base and attempted to steal the Omega Lock from them, fighting off the entire Autobot army. Left facing Optimus and Leobreaker combined into Savage Claw Mode, Starscream fired at the Autobots human allies in order to distract Optimus and allow him to claim the Omega Lock for himself.
Power of Primus[]
In Revelation, Starscream then returned to his base on a small volcanic island located in the Pacific. Starscream attached the Earth Key to the Omega Lock and slowly absorbed Primus' energy from it. In Starscream, he successfully absorbed the energy, growing to gigantic proportions and giving him a golden crown. However, Megatron appeared, having broken free from Starscream's trap. In United, Megatron left the battlefield to focus on acquiring the Omega Lock, leaving the Autobots to deal with Starscream. While Starscream at first appeared to have the advantage, Optimus and Wing Saber combined into Sonic Wing Mode and used their united power to defeat Starscream. Sideways then teleported him and Starscream to the remains of the Atlantis.
Starscream soon awoke, in Balance, and learned from Sideways that the Autobots had used the Omega Lock to transform Cybertron into Primus. Starscream attempted to fight Primus, but was blasted away by Primus's cannons. While this was happening, in Memory, Sideways abducted the Mini-Con Jolt and obtained the location of the fourth Cyber Planet Key from his memory-banks. Starscream went back to Cybertron soon after to try and reobtain the Omega Lock. He encountered his former minion, Thunderblast, and ordered her to give him the Omega Lock. In Escape, Thunderblast attempted get Starscream to come to planet's surface by saying she needed help carrying the lock. Starscream was then confronted by Megatron and the two fought. However, Starscream retreated when the Autobots entered the battle.
In Titans, Starscream sensed Primus's reawakening. When the god attempted to hold off the black hole by firing into it, Starscream teleported in front of the blast and absorbed the energy. The energy caused Starscream to grow to the size of Primus. With his new power, Starscream attempted to fight Primus, trying to break through his shield, but after Primus was awakened, Starscream was defeated by the god again using weapons converted from Cybertron's moons, and lost his excess power.
Final Confrontation on Gigantion[]
Using data gathered from Jolt's memory, in Warp, Starscream took the Atlantis through a spacial warp the ended at Gigantion. Seeing that the Autobots had also arrived, Starscream opened fire on them, causing the Autobots to flee. Arriving on the surface in City, Starscream set the Atlantis in a crevasse. The Autobots launched an attack on the ship, and Gigantion native Quickmix buried the ship and Starscream under cement. However, this only served to stall him, as in Optimus, Starscream blasted his way out of the rubble. Starscream later set out to claim the fourth Cyber Planet Key in its resting place in the starship Lemuria. However, Landmine claimed the Key first and used its power to grow himself giant, allowing him to blast Starscream away.
In Showdown, Starscream returned to challenge Galvatron for the Omega Lock. Declaring that he had given himself over to his pursuit of power, and had no reason to hold back as he had nothing to lose, Starscream maintained the upper hand in the duel, using his ability to increase the mass of his body and null cannons to reduce Galvatron to the verge of destruction. Starscream and Galvatron eventually channelled their energies to blast each other, resulting in Starscream being blasted into another dimension along with Sideways and Soundwave, leaving his crown floating in space.
Reaching out[]
After Galvatron was thwarted and the black hole was closed, in Unfinished Starscream reached out across dimensions to mock his former leader, calling Galvatron out for giving up so easily. Starscream's taunts renewed Galvatron's ambition and inspired him to fight Optimus one last time. In Beginning, when the Autobots began working on their plans for a galaxy-wide space bridge, Wing Saber contacted the others to inform them that he had picked up a lead on Starscream's whereabouts. Upon hearing this, Landmine and a reformed Mudflap went to go help him track down Starscream in the fire dimension.

Energon[]
As a result of being brainwashed by Alpha Q, and later Megatron, Starscream served them loyally. especially Megatron. He was so loyal, he even chose to follow him to his death when he plunged himself into a sun to destroy Unicron.
Cybertron[]
In Cybertron, Starscream gained his free will, and became ruthless and cold-hearted, caring for nobody but himself. Angry at his slavery under Megatron, Starscream split off from Megatron, and sought to use the Cyber Planet Keys to dominate the universe under his will. He is shown to be incredibly manipulative, managing to outmaneuver both the Autobots and his old master Megatron on several occasions. After absorbing the power of the Omega Lock and three of the Cyber Planet Keys Starscream becomes much more unhinged, attempting to assault Primus on 2 occasions and delusionally believing himself to be "Emperor of the Universe" and a god. He believed that true power came from being able to shape the universe to your will. Starscream believed he could "bear the unbearable" for the sake of his power.
