Hiya! Do you wanna play a game with me?
~ X upon first meeting Tom.
Oh, you didn't do anything to me at all, In fact you humans are the most amazing thing I've ever come across in this boring universe. I was bored outta my mind when I first came here but then I saw your kind, and i felt like I had to have every single one of you, to do as I wish, to play with however I desired! Granted it's taking me a while to complete my collection of fun little humans, but--
~ X explaining his motives to Tom, Roger, Mike and Vicky.

X, better known as Sonic.exe (sometimes stylized as Sonic.EXE), is an official reboot of the original 2011 Creepypasta story.

In this version, X is a creature made of dark matter that is all-powerful in its own world and wishes to enslave all of humanity and will not stop until it has crossed over and claimed every human soul.

Biography[]

An ancient eldritch entity originating from a void between dimensions, X eventually discovered a certain universe where he encountered human civilization. Falling in obsession with their psychology, the creature committed five confirmed murders, shortly before a death cult lead by a woman known as Shannon Goldman was formed. They helped to create a disc hosting a video game known as "Sonic.eXe", which served as a Trojan Horse that would act as a gateway between dimensions, allowing X to tract down his victims before removing their souls. In addition to that "The Cult of X" would also trap victims in their rooms by barricading any entrances or exits.

After murdering an academy student named Kyle Scott, X had his cult send a disc to his latest victim's closest friend, Thomas Miller. In the game, X first encounters Tom (playing as Tails) on the district in a dystopian ruined city, disguising himself as Sonic the Hedgehog. The extradimensional being proposed a hide and seek game, and after Tails ran into a hotel, a Mobian fox was transported into a burning forest. There, X took the form of Sonic's head on a black tendril and shoved Tails directly into the fire, before Tom turned off the computer.

Later that night, X killed an English teacher Ms. Diana Wilkinson in her own classroom and tore out her soul. After an assembly announcing her death, Tom and his friends (Roger, Mike and Vicky) went to Anime Club classroom to play "Sonic.eXe" while displaying it onto a large screen projector. Tom (playing as Sally Acorn) was transported into a long hallway with multiple doors, in one of which he found a room with eldritch furniture. Next door led to a dimly lit room where a half-naked Fiona the Fox was hanged by the strings, with traces of live autopsy performed on her.

Leaving her to die, Sally went back to the dystopian city until the screen started glitching. A moment later, X took a form of Sonic with black eyes on the screen projector, while laptop screen was being completely devoured by pure glitch, and reached his hand out of the projector, trying to take students' souls. However, Tom turned off his laptop, making X disappear.

The next day, X killed two students and one teacher. Another assembly was hosted, after which Tom attempted to confront X for the third time, only to find his laptop battery at 3% of power. Miller eventually established the connection between the Cult of X and monster from the game, only to find out that Vicky's friend Alana was missing. He and Roger, Mike and Vicky went to computer lab, knowing that their friend was a computer maniac.

Instead, X teleported into the room with Alana in his hand. The eldritch being explained his fascination with humanity and tore out Alana's soul, revealing that he removes consciousness from his victims to trap them forever in his dimension as his playthings. After that, he lunged at the remaining students, only for them to escape and announce the killer's presence at the academy through administration offices. However, Cult of X had already barricaded windows and doors, as well as having cut off the phone service, allowing X to easily slaughter all students and teachers, excluding Tom and his three friends.

X confronted the four again as a doll head on tendril, managing to kill Mike after the latter tried to save his girlfriend Vicky from being murdered. Seeing no way out, the remaining trio decided to hide at the cafeteria kitchen. However, X kills Vicky before she could enter the room, while Tom and Roger hid in the food storage.

Morning next day, Tom successfully manages to contact Detective Derek Green and call the police. Nevertheless, he discovers that X stole Roger's soul while he was asleep. Driven insane, Tom ran out of the cafeteria back to his dorm room and smashed his laptop to pieces, before being confronted by Kyle (disguised as Knuckles the Echidna) in Scott's laptop. Their reunion is cut short a moment later, when X comes out of the computer and apporachs Tom, admiring how func of a guy he is as he drools, he tells Tom how he will take him to his home where they will do a lot of fun games (with one to be sex) as X stares lustfully at Tom, only for the student to collapse a bookcase on top of the demon. Miller runs to the kitchen and threatens to slash his own throat to prevent X from stealing his soul, fearful he will do it, he offers Tom a deal of seeing his friends in happy place with only price to pay is for Tom to satisfy X, only for Tom to refuse and commit suicide.

Sometime later, Derek Green and his squad arrived at the college, finding a massacre. They searched Tom's room, finding Sonic.eXe disc and letter written by the member of Cult of X to Tom, pretending to be Kyle Scott. However, this was all part of Shannon Goldman's plan. The remaining fate of X stays unknown.

Personality[]

X is a sadistic and playful creature who enjoys torturing his victims, however, he has the personality of an insane and selfish child with a lot of power and believes that he exists to rule mankind.

Powers and Abilities[]

Hyperdimensional abomination physiology:

  • Dimensional travel: Unlike the original version, the 2017 counterpart of X is able to freely phase through dimensions at will for unlimited period of time, usually through his possessed CD disc and any computers that have its data saved on them. However, in chapter seven, X was shown to casually enter Earth's reality by simply walking into it. His dialogue also implies that he is fully aware of everything happening on Earth, even while being in his own dimension.
    • Teleportation: Like almost all versions of the character, X can instantaneously travel from one spot to another without moving his body. He also demonstrated ability to teleport other beings, but only in his dimension.
  • Reality warping: X possesses godlike control over his own hellish dimension, typically warping to mimicry twisted versions of levels and characters from Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Likewise, he can completely manipulate and disregard physics, applying eldritch geometry and furniture into certain rooms at some levels.
  • Shapeshifting: Being a creature based on a dark matter, X is able to create malleable avatars for himself and souls of his victims. Initially, he took appearance of a naked Sonic with hairy limbs, extremely pale skin, as well as separated white eyes with pitch-black pupils. While chasing Tails, he took a form of Sonic's head with small pinprick black eyes, dark-blue fur, pale skin and smile in a form of wide, curved line, supported by black tendrils, giving a resemblance of a flower. However, his main form is tall and lanky, appears to have limbs stretching out of the skin, has black insides, thick dark fur, black cracks under his black eyes, sickly pale skin and X-shaped scar on the chest. He can also manifest several black arms from his throat to restrain his victims.
  • Soul manipulation: X is capable of interacting with and removing souls from human beings by forcing his arms down to his victims' throats, rupturing their esophagus and chest cavity. Because soul is an immortal essence of living beings, X can remove souls even from already-decreased organisms.
  • Electronics manipulation: X possesses natural ability to disrupt and manipulate electrical technology, his presence alone draining computers out of their battery. His disc has virus-like properties, with no data about the type of file, size, location or creation date, and being impossible to delete upon installation, its icon growing in size every time it is opened up.
