Sir Ector (Disney)

	~ Ector's last words when he bows down to King Arthur (Wart) and apologizing for his actions, telling his son Kay to do the same thing.

Sir Ector, also known as Lord Ector or Ector for short, is the former major antagonist of Walt Disney's 1963 animated film The Sword In The Stone. He is the father of Sir Kay who spoils him and aims to make him King of England and the adopted father of Arthur (referring to him as Wart) whom he mistreats him, along with his son. When Wart pulls the sword from the stone, becomes king of England, revealing the name Arthur, Ector and his son are facing their defeat (Ector beging forgiveness, Kay bows in defeat and remorse).

He is voiced by late Sebastian Cabot, who also potrayed Pip in Twilight Zone.

Ector is fatherly, caring, quick-tempered, strict, grumpy, gruff, distrustful, serious, bossy, funny, jolly, pompous, arrogant, not-so quite dimwited like his son and demanding.

Trivia[]

Sir Ector is not a villain because he's just a friend or foe character.
Bill Thompson, Christopher Lee, Marvin Miller, Paul Winchell and Adam West were considered for the role of Ector before Sebastian Cabot was cast.
Sir Ector is the first antagonist ever to reddem himself, before Darth Vader, Noah the Elder, Megamind and Gru.
In the game Disney Magic Kingdoms, Sir Ector is a playable character released on 9th January 2024.
Coelin Flink, the dutch voice of Ector, previously providing his voice as Prince Phillip in Sleeping Beauty.
Sebastian Cabot, the voice of Ector, later provided his voice as Bagheera in The Jungle Book.
The animation of Sir Ector accidentally bumping his sword into Sir Kay's head and Sir Kay moaning in pain when trying to attack the enchanted kitchen supplies is recycled from One Hundred and One Dalmatians when Horace accidentally strikes Jasper in the head with a chair leg. Archive audio of J. Pat O'Malley, who voiced Jasper, is used for Kay in the scene. The only difference is that Ector does not get kicked in the rear by Kay.
He is a male equivalent of Lady Tremaine. However, he doesn't mistreats Arthur like Lady Tremaine did to Cinderella, he's sadistic and delusional.
He is also similar to Mr. Darling in Peter Pan as they both act antagonistic to their children but redeem themselves at the end.
The animation of Sir Ector laughing with Sir Pellinore after Arthur fell down with the dishes is also recycled from Sleeping Beauty when King Hubert and King Stefan were laughing after arguing and fighting over the future of Prince Phillip and Princess Aurora.
In French dub, Ector was voiced by late Claude Bertrand, who also voiced three Phil Harris roles of characters from the other Disney Movies: Baloo in The Jungle Book, Thomas O'Malley in The Aristocats and Little John in Robin Hood.
This is Cabot's first animated character role and final role of the antagonist.
