Shao Kahn is the main antagonist featured in the 1997 film based on the Mortal Kombat franchise, called Mortal Kombat Annihilation.

Mortal Kombat[]
At the end of the movie after Shang Tsung's death, Shao Kahn threatens Earthrealm warriors through hologram.
Mortal Kombat Annihilation[]
Shao Kahn appears after the defeat of the evil wizard known as Shang Tsung. He declares war on Earthrealm, and after breaking the Mortal Kombat rules, he initiates the invasion along with his Sindel side that who he used to can be the gateway for him to go to Earthrealm along with his army. Once there he is aborted by Liu Kang and the others, and during the fight Johnny Cage dies at the hands of Shao Kahn during his first appearance by twisting his neck. With this the Earthrealm warriors are forced to retreat. Kahn later kills Rain for talking about his mission. After Kahn names Sindel as his right-hand, then Jade offers to help in the fight against Shao Kahn and tries to seduce Liu Kang, however she turns out to be working with Kahn and attacks Liu Kang, the two have a well-balanced fight, Jade then run away. She reunites with Shao Kahn, where Kahn kills her for her alleged incompetence during the mission. Soon after Kahn reunites with his father Shinnok and the minions to attack the Earthrealm warriors.
It is later revealed that Shao Kahn is Raiden's brother, and that Shinnok is the father of both, and that in the fight Raiden had won but refused to kill him. And in the fight Jax, Sonia and Kitana fight Kahn's generals, who are Motaro, Ermac and Sindel and defeat them. Liu Kang heads at Shao Kahn, Shinnok tries to intervene and tries to kill him, but is prevented by the Elder God who learned of his betrayal. Liu Kang has a confrontation with Shao Kahn that defeats and Shinnok is banished to Netherrealm, Kahn's effect on Sindel is broken, and she reunites with her daughter while Raiden is raised by the Elder God.
Powers and Abillity[]
Shao Kahn has the same powers as his original gaming homologo, since he can throw weapon at his enemies, he can use telekinesis and can run fast with green energy that attacks his enemies, he can also use Animality and turns into a beastly monster.
Personality[]
Shao Kahn, like his gaming counterpart, is cruel, sadistic, barbaric, traitorous, selfish and misanthrope. He longs for the destruction of Earthrealm and will do anything to get it. He also does not tolerate failure and incompetence and will kill him if he fails his missions as he did with Rain and Jade, he will also see his generals as pawns and will dismiss him and any of them will no longer be useful.

- In this story, as incredible as it sounds Shao Kahn and Raiden are brothers and Shinnok is the father of both.
- Shao Kahn is the second main antagonist in the Mortal Kombat movie, as the first is Shang Tsung.
