Rita Loud is the supporting character of the Nickelodeon TV series The Loud House and a minor character in its spinoff The Casagrandes. She is the mother of the Loud children and husband of Lynn Sr.. She also has played an antagonistic role in some episodes.
Personality[]
Rita is caring towards her children, but is not afraid to punish and ground them if they go too far. She and her husband act playfully romantic towards each other, though she is apparently more level-headed than him. An example of this is when she's concerned about Lincoln playing video games too much and tells him to do some sport outside in "The Loudest Yard".
She dreams to be a novelist but initially seems to lack a creative side, as she wrote a story about a bored dental assistant talking to her fish before being inspired by Lincoln to write about a thrill seeker with white hair, himself.
Appearance[]
Rita wears a salmon buttoned shirt with a white collar and cuffs, and dark mauve pants. She has medium length blonde hair and white earrings. She also wears light blue eyeshadow and red lipstick, while wearing black low tops. She has bags under her eyes, just like Lincoln.
Antagonistic Acts[]
- "Picture Perfect": She and Lynn Sr. don't like Lincoln's homemade coffee mugs.
- "Cover Girls": She and Lynn Sr. punish their children for lying by making them stay in their costumes all day.
- "Cereal Offender": She scolds Lincoln for getting him and the family kicked out of the supermarket, though tries to tell her what happen but cuts him off.
- "The Loudest Yard": She forces Lincoln to do sports (even though he's not really good at it) and completely ignores his protests to quit.
- "Suite and Sour": She and Lynn Sr. furiously grounds their children by order them to stay in the room for the rest of the weekend.
- "No Such Luck": She, Lynn Sr., and the sisters start to ban Lincoln from the family activities, believing he is unlucky. Eventually, they exclude Lincoln from their home and sell all his furniture, then they apologies to him, how they treated him
- "Read Aloud": She, Lynn Sr., and the other sisters confront Lincoln and Lola that they missed the deadline. When Lincoln attempts to take the blame to spare Lola and nearly gets punished for his actions, Lola steps in and confesses them that it was actually her own fault for making them miss the contest. She and her family didn’t apologize to Lincoln for blaming him but apologized to Lola.
- "Cooked!": Rita, twice, forbids Lincoln from escorting the people in buses into the restaurant.
- "House Flip": Rita and Lynn Sr. threatens to take away their childrens' driving priveleges for life if Vanzilla gets one more dent, but the kids have to sneak Flip into the attic to care for him without Mom and Dad knowing about their behavior and avoid being grounded from their driving priveleges. When the kids eventually forced to confess their accident with Vanzilla to their parents, they punishes and grounds them by banning their driving privileges for the rest of their life. However, Flip tells them to go easy on them, since they did take care of him. Realizing they went overboard, the parents decide to cut back on the discipline and revokes their driving privileges for the rest of the month. As a thanks for helping him get better, Flip decides to give the kids free Flippees once their ban is lifted, and they apologies to them
- "Family Bonding": She doesn't believe Lincoln and Clyde when they claim the Millers are spies due to their falsely accusing neighbors of being supervillains, ghosts, and aliens among others in the past, but apologizes for not believing him when it turns out that he was right about them.
- "The Taunting Hour": Rita and her family were extremely furious at Lincoln for revealing the critics. She also called him a life ruiner.
Trivia[]
- Rita's entire face was never shown during the first season. It was revealed along with her husband's in the Season 2 premiere.
- It's possible that Pop-Pop may have parented Rita poorly, which is why Rita isn't always a good mother in the series.
