
Rick Neelan was a antagonist that appeared sprodically between November 2009 and September 2022. Rick was a loan shark who made those who owed him money lives a living hell and a few unlucky residents of Coronation Street found themselves in Ricks deabt. Eventually, former army man Gary Windass eventually put an end to Rick after killing him during a showdown in the woods.
Rick is played by actor Greg Wood (formerly Milburn).
History[]
Rick was first seen in November 2009 when local businessman Joe McInTyre owed Rick thousands in debt, Rick confronted Joe only to be met with excuses this led Rock to make threats to Joe's and his family for the following three months, eventually, Joel attempted to get Rick of his and his family's back bybfaking his death however Joe would actually die for real by drowning leaving both his daughter, Tina and wife Gail devestated.
Rick returns two years later in May 2012 this time being after Terry Duckworth, during this he realises that Terry's son, Tommy Duckworth is with the daughter of Joe, Tina. This leads Rick to confront and tourment Tina over Joe's death. Tina eventually had a helping hand in taking Rick down by setting him up later, Rick kidnaps Rita Sullivan who is a mother figure to Tina however Rick is later arrested by Kirsty Soames and is sent to prison. Kirsty later tells Tina that Rick got 7 years imprisonment.
Rick does in deed return near 7 years later when he shows up back in Coronation Street in 2019 this time confronting former army man Gary Windass who is in thousands of pounds worth of debt to Rick. Rick as usual piles on the threats towards Garry and his family and even allows Gary to work off some of the debt however this get sour between the men and eventually Rick decides his had enough of Gary and plans to murder him, so Rick lures Gary into the woodlands were a showdown between the ment ensures, Rick is seen overpowering Gary but Gary reaches a for a near by rock and hits Rick over the head but Gary repeatedly beats Rick with the rock to make sure his really dead.
Rick does return as a vision for his daughter, Kelly in September 2022 as Gary over gulit has taken Kelly in but once Kelly discovers the truth that Gary killed Rick she begins to have a breakdown which causes her to see visions of Rick prompting Kelly on to carry out revenge on Gary. Kelly later pays 10,000 pounds to Rick's former associate Kieron Edgerton to kill Gary but eventually has a change of heart.

- Rick shares similarities to two other Coronation Street antagonists, the first being Jez Quigley and the other being Harvey Gaskell.
- In June 2019 it was seen that Gary killed Rick after their big showdown a pivotal moment in Gary's character development and plans to make him a long term villan.
