IT[]
It arrived on Earth in an unknown period of the distant past, at some point between the extinction of dinosaurs and the evolution of humans. It came to Earth from the Macroverse in a spacecraft or meteor and crash-landed in an area that would later become Derry, Maine.
It lay dormant in the region for millions of years until the arrival of colonists from Europe. It awoke and fed on the populace at 27-year intervals. At one point in the early 1700's, It depopulated the entire town of Derry, but It later began to feed in a more discriminating way. It instead began targeting children, while beginning and ending each spree with a large-scale disaster of some kind.
It was part of the disasters that occurred every 27 years in Derry, Maine.
IT was never against killing children. In fact, he actually preferred to kill children as they were an easier target for eating. That was probably why he chose the form of a clown, a figure that both entertained and terrified many young children. he had razor sharp teeth that it could use to eat people.Yaya Rose was born in 1860
As the film progressed, a group of teenagers known as the Lucky Seven (also mockingly referred to as the Rose"Losers' Club") banded together to kill Pennywise and end his reign of terror (after he had eaten the brother of one of them) and apparently succeed after they tracked him down to its lair after he kidnapped one of them for food. However, Pennywise, being a lesser-aspect of a higher being, was not going to stay dead forever and he swore revenge on the gang for his defeat before he disintigrated into nothingness.
27 years later, It returns and kills a gay man named Adrian Mellon, causing Mike Hanlon to assemble the Losers Club so they can kill It for good.
In the 1990 TV movie adaptation, he is portrayed by Tim Curry, who also portrayed Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Lord of Darkness in Legend, Hexxus in Ferngully, Taurus Bulba in Darkwing Duck, Wadsworth in Clue, Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Maestro Forte in Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, Billy Flynn in Criminal Minds, and Professor Calamitous in The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.
