„
~ Pawbert's first furious breakdown as he angrily pins both Nick and Judy down, preparing to kill them for getting in his way.
Pawbert Lynxley is the secondary antagonist of Disney's 64th full-length animated feature film, Zootopia 2, the second installment of the Zootopia franchise.
He is the youngest son of Milton Lynxley, the younger brother of Cattrick and Kitty Lynxley, and the outcast of the Lynxley family. Wanting to prove that he belongs with the family, Pawbert desperately tries to prove his worth to make his father proud and show him that he can be like his siblings. Initially coming across as a friendly, noble and helpful individual to Judy Hopps and Gary De'Snake, Pawbert reveals himself later on to not be much different from his father and siblings: murderous, self-serving, and willing to eliminate anyone and anything that would threaten to reveal his family's dark secret.
Pawbert is described as the easygoing runt of the family, initially coming off as awkward yet friendly to Judy. He later appears to want to help her and Gary prove the snakes' innocence as a means of taking down his family, giving the impression that his intentions are noble. However, this turns out to be a facade, as he used Judy and Gary to lead him to the location of Agnes's patent for the Weather Walls and prove his worth to his father. After his true nature is revealed, he becomes much more unhinged and vindictive, stopping at nothing to achieve his goals and earn his father's respect.
Appearance[]
Pawbert is a lynx with light gray fur, a white muzzle, and black markings. He has tufts of black fur on his ears, three whiskers on each side of his muzzle, and his eyes are light green. He wears a dark green sweater with light accents and brown pants.
Biography[]
Pawbert is a member of an influential family, whose ancestors were some of the original designers of the city of Zootopia. His great-grandfather, Ebenezer Lynxley, was proclaimed to be the author of a now-ancient, historical book that details the inner workings of the city’s weather walls, that is to be put on display during the Zootennial Gala that he attends with his family.
Pawbert first appeared when Judy accidentally bumped into him, causing him to spill his drink on his suit. After introducing himself, Pawbert was excited to talk to Judy as he heard about her work with the missing predators from the first film. Pawbert is then seen lifting Gary into his motorbike sidecar, when he is thrown from the window and drives away.
Later on Pawbert rescues Judy from the ZPD and helps Gary while riding on his motorbike to Sahara Square. They approach a campsite and Pawbert assures her that they'll stop his family and save Nick. At the campsite, Gary places the journal in front of a bonfire and stares at it. Pawbert explains that pit vipers can see heat, meaning Gary can detect images on the journal's cover that no mammal can see. Gary draws what he sees and reveals the journal's secret - the weather walls weren't created by Ebenezer Lynxley. The real creator and founder of Zootopia is Gary's great-grandmother, Agnes De'Snake.
Pawbert and Gary reveal that they now know where her house is, as Gary draws a map of "Olde Zootopia" that he saw with his heat vision which shows Reptile Ravine, which is located somewhere in the mountains surrounding the Lynxley Manor. Judy, Gary, and Pawbert cut through the festival on their way to the weather wall, when the ZPD locate them and give chase. Gary gets trapped under some debris and Judy rushes to help him, and Hoggbottom catches up to her, reporting to Milton that the trio are headed to the weather wall. Milton realizes they are trying to expose the Lynxley family secret, and orders Hoggbottom to "put them down". Hoggbottom hesitantly aims a dart gun at Judy, but as she pulls the trigger, Flash arrives in his car and kicks up a dust cloud that Judy, Gary, and Pawbert use to hide as they race inside the weather wall. As they reach the power station, Gary's presence frightens the station's workers, who flee and leave the door open. Gary and Pawbert help Judy turn on the power switch that turns on Reptile Ravine's lights, and they spot the clock tower. Pawbert then betrays Judy and injects her with venom, also betraying Gary as well. Gary tries to stop him, but he is too weak from the cold. Pawbert tells Judy that they are both underdogs that have to prove they're as good as everyone else, and by destroying Agnes's patent, he will finally be accepted by his family. He takes Gary's fanny pack and leaves when he hears Nick calling for Judy. Judy begs Pawbert to stop and urges him to realize he can be different from his family, but he says he doesn't want to be different. While searching for Nick, he encounters Nibbles and injects her with venom too.
An immobile Judy watches the security monitor, which shows Pawbert lunging at Nick on the roof. Gary assures her that they will succeed, and remembers that she is warm-blooded. He hugs her and gets his strength back by absorbing her heat. The ZPD burst in and assume Gary is trying to kill her. While he fights off the police, he calls out to Nick, who is still confronting Pawbert, telling him to retrieve his Anti-Venom Pen from his fanny pack. Nick and Pawbert wrestle over it, and the pen slides out of reach. The ground suddenly shifts, leaving them on a fragile ledge of ice. Pawbert tells Nick the pen isn't worth dying for, but Nick rushes to push it so Gary can reach it. Gary injects Judy with the pen, and she quickly recovers and races past several police officers on her way to help Nick. The ice ledge breaks, and Nick and Pawbert fall, but Nick is saved by Judy and Gary, the latter of which then goes to help Nibbles. Nibbles informs them that she survived, and Pawbert did too. Pawbert runs toward the Lynxley Manor, and Judy and Nick realize they have to find Agnes's patent before he does.
As Pawbert enters the manor, Milton grabs him and tells him he will never belong in the Lynxley family. Pawbert explains how he was trying to help the family and secure their secret when Judy, Nick, Nibbles and Gary arrive in a snowmobile. Milton orders Pawbert to find the patent and destroy it, and Pawbert takes off to do so. As Gary and Nibbles stay behind with Winddancer to take on the other Lynxleys, Judy and Nick chase Pawbert in a giant snow maze. They consider splitting up, but then come up with a plan together. Nick hotwires a truck to mow down the maze, allowing them to spot Pawbert hurrying out the maze's exit. Pawbert arrives at Reptile Ravine with a gas and matches to destroy any evidence he finds, but Judy and Nick catch up and knock him into a snowbank. But Pawbert then gets the upper hand on the duo by trying to choke them to death but Gary and Nibbles join and save them and succeed in taking him down. The four then head to the old De'Snake family home, where they find a wooden box that contains Agnes's original patent, until Pawbert arrives again to try destroying the patent one last time with a lantern but to no avail, cackling evilly and sadistically before he is fortunately knocked out from behind by Hoggbottom with a frying pan. The revelations of Agnes's contributions to the city and the Lynxley family's lies are publicized and soon spread throughout the city, and the Lynxleys are all arrested. Judy tells Pawbert that he will finally belong in his family in prison. In jail, Pawbert was seen standing and looking through the bars while his family and watches in horror when he sees most of the prisoners look at them. During the credits, Pawbert is trying to reconcile with his father Milton in jail, only to be turned down.

Trivia[]
Despite being the youngest of the Lynxley family, Pawbert's voice actor, Andy Samberg, is actually older than his siblings' voice actors.
Pawbert serves as dark foils to Judy, Nick and Gary:
Judy: They're both trying to fit in somewhere that they desperately want to be in (Judy in the police force, and Pawbert in the Lynxley family). However, Judy was able to prove that she could be a police officer. As for Pawbert, he had a hard time fitting in with his family. If Judy hadn't found a way to join the police force, she would've ended up like Pawbert.
Nick: They're both predators who had a hard time fitting in, due to injustice (Nick fitting in a city filled of prey mammals, and Pawbert fitting in with his family). However, Nick was able to get along with Judy and Chief Bogo. Pawbert, on the other hand, was unable to make his father proud. Pawbert serves an example of what Nick would've become if he hadn't learned to get along with the prey mammals.
Gary: Both Gary and Pawbert are family focused men who prove themselves to be very intelligent and cunning despite their goofy nature. However, Gary was raised in a poor, but loving family that taught him to care for others despite any shortcomings. Pawbert, meanwhile, was raised in a rich, but abusive family that made him feel self-conscious and insecure, which would cause him to become erratic, selfish, and apathetic to those around him.
During the scene where Pawbert walks towards the Reptile Ravine, so that he can burn the patent, he enters a large hedge maze in a homage to the horror film, The Shining. Specifically, the scene where Jack Torrance tries to kill his son, Danny, inside a hedge maze in the snow. Ironically, both characters were wearing a green sweater in their respective films. Pawbert also walks with a limp and does a "Kubrick stare" while in the maze as a homage to Jack Nicholson's Torrance.
