Paul Browning is an antagonist from british soap opera Hollyoaks. Paul served as one of the main antagonists between January 2012 and October 2013. Also known as "Browning" or more professionally "Doctor Browning", the characters main storylines where the murder of Lynsey Nolan, his relationship and marriage to Mercedes McQueen and attacking many women of Hollyoaks village one of which included Lindsey Butterfield.
Paul Browning is played by Joseph Thompson.
History[]
Browning was first seen in January 2012 and had an instant lustful connection with Mercedes McQueen, Browning infact fell in love with Mercedes and even killed a woman to protect her secret the poor Lynsey Nolan. Browning did get the woman he was after and he would enter into a relationship with Mercedes despite not seeing eye to eye with the majority if Mercedes' family. In March 2013, Browning would meet Clare Devine off-screen and would eventually be conned from her out of thousands of pounds after she kidnapped Mercedes. Browning along with Mercedes would begin to run the local Nightclub The Loft until it was taken from them by Trevor Royle. Browning would attack both Lindsey Butterfield and Cindy Cunningham leaving both women frightened. Browning's crimes would eventually catch up with him after he attempted to kill Myra McQueen and Mercedes.
In October 2013, Browning escapes prison and is now a fugitive, Browning returns to the village in a car mowing down Clare which kills her instantly. Browning then kidnaps Mercedes but takes her to her house both Cindy and Lindsey save Mercedes after Browning begins to attack her however Browning wakes up and Mercedes attacks him this time killing Browning, the three women do their best to hide Browning's body until with the help of Freddie Roscoe the three women make Browning's death look like a suicide. Fraser Black later pays a police contact to plant the ID of the murdered Ritchie Trent in Browning's belongings which clears Trevor's name who is Ritchie's real killer. This made it look like Browning commoted suicide due to the supposed guily of killing Ritchie Trent.
