Olive Guthrie

The villainous Olive Guthrie

Olive Guthrie (K.T. Stevens; 1919-1994) was a villainess from "Kill My Love," episode 2.26 of Thriller (airdate March 26, 1962). She was the wife of traveling salesman Guy Guthrie and the mother of their only son, Julian Guthrie.

As the episode revealed, Guy was having an affair with model Anthea Jason, and in the episode's opening, Guy strangled Anthea to death after she threatened to inform Olive about the affair. Olive was first shown greeting Guy when he returned home, but also witnessed Julian talking about Anthea's murder in San Diego, while mentioning that Guy was in San Diego on that day. Guy and Julian argued about the date, with Guy claiming that the trip was on the 7th instead of the actual date: the 17th.

However, Olive looked at the torn program and saw the 17th listed, and on the following morning, she informed her husband that she arranged for Guy to work a steady job at her father's bank, with Guy voicing his protests to Olive. As it turned out, Olive's "arrangement" was part of her verbal blackmail to her husband, as she not only knew about the affair, but had known that Guy murdered Anthea. The villainess callously responded to Guy's anguish regarding the job by stating that it would keep her from meeting "another Anthea Jason," and in addition, the evil Olive informed her husband that she wouldn't go public with his role in the murder, as long as he didn't provoke her.

In response, Guy rigged a gas line in the basement, causing it to explode when the light is turned on. When Olive returned home, she caught the scent of leaking gas in the basement and turned on the light; as a result, the basement exploded, with Olive being killed in the blast.
