~ Norman Osborn as the Red Goblin to Spider-Man.
Norman Osborn, also known as the Green Goblin, Iron Patriot, Super-Adaptoid, Red Goblin, and Gold Goblin, is one of the main antagonists of the Marvel Universe, specifically serving as the main antagonist of the Spider-Man franchise.
He is the former head of the multinational corporation Oscorp and father of Harry Osborn, who became the first and most well known incarnation of the Green Goblin after ingesting a serum that increased his physical abilities yet in the process drove him to insanity.
Norman was born as the son of Amberson Osborn and an inventor, he was the grandson of the tycoon who created his fortune that was Alton Osborn. However the inventions were stolen, his manufacturing company was closed and his family almost went bankrup. Norman was soon subjected to abuse by his father, who became a drunkard to cope with his losses. Stressed by the state of his family, he killed his dog, claiming he was one less to feed, he also developed a desire to want to reclaim his family's lost wealth. Amberson decided to lock Norman in the dark to cure him of his fear of the dark, yet Norman saw a greenish monster that startled him, and wished the dark would't go away, which then sneezed at him.
Norman studied at Empire State University in New York, and majored in chemistry and electrical engineering, and as such he also took a business administration degree. Right there he met Emily who provided some emotional balance and became obsessed with money. They soon married and had a son named Harry, Norman and Harry were very much in love, and when Emily died it caused Norman to neglect Harry. And then later, Norman met Oscorp Industries with his former professor Mandel Stromm, and the company would soon emerge as a successful chemical engineering company, and Norman was able to meet his goal of reclaiming his family fortune, Stromm. It also prefited the company's success, and despite its success Norman wanted full control of the company's business. He discovered that Stromm diverted funds from Oscorp, and he arrested him for it, thus making him the owner and CEO. Shortly thereafter, Norman tested one of Stromm's formulas, because it was not finished, which splattered in Norman's face.
When he woke up at the hospital, he realized that his intelligence increased as it should, however formula had side effect that led to insanity, and his identity as Green Goblin.
As Supervillain[]
After discovering his latest power, Osborn soon planned to become a powerful crime lord and thus unite all the small
criminal circles. And wanting to get Spider Man out of the way, he then sends two supervillains Headman and Scorcher to do the dirty work for him. However they were defeated by Spider Man. Then Osborn decided to do the job with his own hands and kill Spider Man once and for all. He then made a rubber suit and bat glider and equipped with deadly weapons, including also razor sticks and electric gloves, detonation gas and his Pumpkin Bomb for him to throw at his opponents.
He then enlists the help of the Enforcers, who had previously fought Spider Man, he went to Spider Man and tricked him into a movie about the web. On the set in New Mexico, the Goblins and the Enforcers fought Spider Man, forcing him to flee into a nearby cave, and unbeknownst to them was occupied by the Hulk. While Spider Man was busy defending Jade Giant, Green Goblin soon made his escape, and Green Goblin reappeared in an attempt to disfigured Spider Man and increased his reputation, and although he is always on the ring of crime, and after many defeats to Spider Man, and Osborn spent all this time wondering how to destroy him.
Being Unmasked[]
At one point, Green Goblin devised a way to discover Spider Man's identify, he simply created simply created a gas that nullfied Peter Parker's spider. He then captured the easy Spider Man and led them to his lair, where he revealed himself as Norman Osborn, and after making a mistake of untying Spider Man and boasting and proving his superiority, however, Spider Man the beat him up and sent him electronic wires covered with chemicals. So Osborn lost all his memory Green Goblin, Spider Man so pleased with that burned out the Green Goblin fantasy of Osborn.
Death[]
Norman's memories returned somehow, and he kidnapped Gwen Stacy who was Peter's love interest, and forced Spider Man to fight him on a bridge, Osborn then threw Gwen off the bridge, and Spider Man desperate to save she fired her web and grabbed it, but it was too late, and she died, furious Peter brutally attacking the Goblin and nearly killing him. But Osborn then had his last play to do, he controlled his glider by remote control and tried to impale Spider Man from behind. However unfortunately Peter's spider sense warned him and he dodge Norman's attack, instead the glider's blade returned to Norman and pierce his body and he was given dead. After his death. many other people wore his cloak, including his son Harry, and another villain to him appeared the Hobgoblin.
Return[]
He returns after a goblin chemical formula regenerates him, Norman then kills a man like him and puts him in his coffin. He then plans a revenge plan against Peter, he hires several killers to try to kill him, he hires a woman to poison Mary Jane who is pregnant and forced to give birth to this alive, he drugs Flash Thompson and makes him suffer a car accident that caused him to get brain damage. After the events related to Spider Man he then reveals that
he is shocked that he is alive. He is convinced that Ben Reilly is real Peter Parker. They then have another battle, which Norman tries to use the glider against Spider Man, however Ben Reilly who is a clone of Spider Man dives in front and died, Spider Man then launches against Norman, and apparently he is presumed dead.
Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers/Dark X-Men[]
Norman created several villain teams to defeat the superheroes, including the Dark Avengers and the Dark X-Men, and at one point he joined Sinister Twelve and became an evil combination of Iron Patriot and Captain America, and charged his fantasy to Iron Patriot.
Superior Spider Man[]
After the events of evil reign, Osborn soon returned to his former villainous identify as Green Goblin, although he was called King Goblin.
Temporaly Weakened[]
After the events of Superior Spider Man and the Secret Wars, Norman becomes a weapons dealer, and tries to take revenge on Spider Man, but ultimately fails due to his lack of powers, Norman then tries anyway to regain his powers.
Red Goblin[]
Norman tries to regain his powers anyway and then decides to merge Carnage's symbiote with Green Goblin's formula to remove Peter Parker's cure, and he now becomes Red Goblin, and thanks to symbiot Norman recalls that Peter Parker and Spider Man are the same person.
Personality[]
Norman at first soon began as an amoral, manipulative, selfish and cruel businessman, sacrificing others to achieve his goals. He had a ambition and was completely selfish that chose the job of his son, Harry Osborn, since he was insensitive to him, and yet he showed that he did not care to some extent. He liked Peter since he considered himself to be a son he never had.
However, when he became the Goblin, he became obsessive and thirsty for power, and with his ambition that turned into hatred, and an eternal desire for revenge against those who harmed him. He also wanted at all costs the most powerful in the world and defeat Spider Man several times and all without success. He has also shown himself to be a psychopath, narcissistic, arrogant, obnoxious, ruthless. psychotic, greedy, heartless deceiver, bigarist, sadistic, monstrous, destructive, vindictive, temperamental and utterly wicked. He shows total lack of empathy for both his son Harry and for Parker, he had no sense of honor.
Powers and Abilities[]
The experimental Goblin Formula granted Norman superhuman intelligence, superhuman strength, superhuman speed, superhuman durability, superhuman reflexes, and a regenerative healing factor. Not to the levels of high tier characters, but to the level of most street level characters. The Goblin Serum has a severe drawback. It literally turns you insane. Norman was already a horrible person. The Goblin Serum brought it up to the surface even more.
Norman Osborn is still dangerous without the Goblin Serum. He is a ruthless businessman, and a criminal mastermind. This is why he was held in the Raft. A super-maximum security prison.
Worst Things Norman Osborn Has Done:
Killed Gwen Stacy
Sending a woman named Alison to poisoned Mary Jane, which caused her to go to intensive labor.
Faked Aunt May's Death
Killed Ben Reilly
Tortured Peter so he would become the Goblin heir.
Osborn ran Mary Alice Burke off the road. A former lover of Doc Octopus, which Norman injected her with the AIDS virus.
Send Daken to kill The Punisher
Seduced Gwen Stacy
Send Bullseye to kill 107 civilians.
Norman has a cure for cancer. Think of how many people died of cancer because Norman withheld the cure.
