~ Springtrap. |
Uncle Mike Schmidt, later known as Springtrap, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Bonnie the Bunny) of ShadowLL's Five Night's at Freddy's [sic] fanfic trilogy, serving as the unseen overarching antagonist of Five Night's At Freddy's, the central antagonist of The Horror Attraction and the main antagonist of The Calling.
He is a mysterious serial killer and previous owner of Freddy Fazbear's Entertainment who murdered five children at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria before meeting his fate in the Spring Bonnie costume. However, he would be resurrected and would plan his revenge. He is also the uncle of Derrick Schmidt, one of the souls inside Foxy the Pirate.
History[]
Background[]
Back in the days of Fredbear's Family Diner, Mike killed a child outside the location, causing it to shut down. Following this, he took control of the company Freddy Fazbear's Entertainment and would open Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, creating four new characters and renaming Fredbear to Golden Freddy. One day, he would put on the golden costume and murder five children at Freddy's by stuffing them into the animatronic suits when they were still alive, before turning on the motors to rip them apart. While the children inside the main three were hid in the animatronics, Foxy's child was buried away from the restaurant. Three parents would commit suicide over losing their children. Eventually, he would become a night guard at Freddy's, where he defended himself against his vengeful victims, now haunting the animatronics.
The Calling[]
Two years after the murders, Mike would hire his nephew Derrick as both the new night guard and Foxy's first mate. However, the boy would find out that the animatronics become aggressive at night and confront his uncle about it. Mike would become aggressive and tell his nephew to back off, but he wouldn't stop, and would eventually figure out the animatronics hold the corpses. Once the killer realises this, he confronts Derrick and tells him that either he erases all the evidence he's the culprit, or the animatronics will kill him and his love interest, Sarah. Once Derrick refuses to back down, Mike visits him during the nightshift and tries to kill him, and indirectly succeeds when Freddy throws them both at a wall, thus breaking his nephew's bones. Following this, Mike escapes and puts on a purple Freddy suit to lure all four animatronics into the Safe Room, where he'd disassemble them one by one: Including Foxy, who is now haunted by Derrick's soul. This proved to be the fatal mistake that would free their souls, with Derrick chasing Mike into the Spring Bonnie suit, where he slowly died, with his heart being crushed under his own bones.
The Horror Attraction[]
Mike first appears in the first chapter, staring at Foxy while the building slowly burns down and collapses, revealing he was around for the events of the first entry.
Thirty years later, in 2017, Mike re-emerges as Springtrap. First, he manipulates Mangle by claiming Foxy killed him in cold blood and that he was an innocent man who did nothing except anger his boss, thus convincing her Foxy is evil and needs to be killed. Meanwhile, he and the Puppet have teamed up and plot to get the security guard killed, who also happens to be Mike's relative. Eventually, Springtrap manages to find Foxy and almost attacks him, but the Puppet convinces him to let the fox go, the rabbit being afraid of it. As Mangle tries to kill Foxy, Springtrap and the Puppet recruit Freddy, and also almost kill Golden after deciding he's no longer useful.
Eventually, Foxy finds out Springtrap is Mike Schmidt and the killer. However, the man discards his past identity, preferring to go by Springtrap. He tries to attack Foxy, but Mangle has a change of heart and stops him. A bit later, Springtrap appears before Foxy. He reveals he always knew who he was, and that he's effectively tricked the Puppet. The two fight for a bit, with Foxy barely managing to escape. Later on, Foxy encounters Springtrap again, but is no longer afraid, knowing he's not even remotely as bad as Bonnie, easily defeating him. Some time later, Chica and Freddy manage to distract Springtrap while Foxy and Golden confront Bonnie and the Puppet. They would eventually get into a fight, but the rabbit would escape following Golden's arrival, realising he's outnumbered.
Following this, the trio of villains would team up to face the five heroes. In the final battle, Springtrap would target Chica and Golden. He would manage to kill Chica, leaving Foxy with no choice but to absorb her soul and throw Bonnie at the killer. The two rabbits soon realise Mangle killed the Puppet, causing Springtrap to sadistically smile. The two then ganged up on Golden before Springtrap charged at the two foxes, although with a little fear in his eyes. After some fighting, Foxy manages to stab Mike in the eye with his hook, causing him to escape into the darkness.
Springtrap doesn't return until much later, where the only ones still alive are Mangle and Bonnie. The former grabs a lighter and walks over to the undead killer, recognizing he has to die for the madness to end. She sets him on fire, with his faulty wiring causing the fire to expand and consume the whole building, killing all three of the remaining animatronics.
Trivia[]
- Several info about Mike seemed to have been retconned during the series. The first entry claims Mike used a knife to kill the children, while later entries would prove he "merely" stuffed them inside the suits.
- Also, the first entry claims Mike is the FNaF 2 Phone Guy, something that simply wouldn't work timeline-wise as he's already Springtrap. However, it's also implied the Phone Guy was simply Golden pretending, so it's ultimately too ambiguous.
