Once Cole turned heel, he he began to belittle Daniel Bryan and took a liking to The Miz, leading to confrontations with Bryan throughout the season.

On the November 29, 2010 episode of RAW, Cole interfered in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match for the WWE Championship between Jerry Lawler and The Miz, costing Lawler the match and helping Miz retain his title. This began a feud with Lawler that built towards a match at WrestleMania XXVII. During this time, Cole revealed that Jack Swagger was his trainer and he antagonized Lawler with antics such as making fun of his mother's death and inviting his son, Brian Lawler, to air family secrets. At WrestleMania, special referee, Stone Cold Steve Austin announced Lawler had won the match but the Anonymous Raw General Manager reversed that decision and declared Cole the winner by DQ (disqualification), due to Austin getting involved in the match. A month later at Extreme Rules, Cole teamed with Swagger to defeat Jim Ross and Lawler in a Country Whipping match. Lawler and Cole had a final "Kiss My Foot" match at Over the Limit on May 22, which Cole lost. Ater the match, Bret Hart returned and put Cole in his signature submission move, the Sharpshooter, to help Lawler make Cole kiss his foot. Cole apologized to Lawler the following night on Raw, ending their feud. Cole continued to favor most heels and question the actions of the faces to regain control in matches.

Trivia[]

  • Cole is an unlockable playable character in WWF SmackDown 2: Know Your Role and WWF No Mercy. In the majority of WWE games, Cole is a non-playable commentator. In WWE '12, Cole was playable as Downloadable Content (DLC). Cole and Lawler are also non-playable commentators in the game. When Cole or Lawler participate in a match, they will break the fourth wall a lot on commentary and make fun of each other. For example, if Cole gets eliminated in the Royal Rumble, he will say that there is "some kind of glitch in the ring" and that he "never loses". They will also talk about how good their models in the game look and Lawler will say that "people actually wanted to play as him".
    • In the video games where Cole is a non-playable commentator, he can be playable through modding.
  • During Cole's heel run, he was very disliked by the majority of fans, and some even call it one of the "worst heel turns in WWE history", and some call his feud with Lawler one of the "worst feuds in WWE history". He gained a lot of respect from fans for the very professional way he handled Lawler's legit on-air heart attack, so at this point, it'd be so hard to turn him heel again. He has been in the WWE for 25 years and is considered to be their longest lasting commentator and is the "Voice of the WWE".
    • Cole in an interview said that playing a "bad guy" was really fun for him, and he said he was always good at it.
    • Jim Ross, the former "Voice of the WWE" who also is is a WWE Hall of Famer, said that Cole is a really good guy and a great worker in the business, and he's really upset that most people view him negatively as a person based on his TV persona.
