The Male MUTO is the secondary antagonist of Godzilla (2014). He was the mate of the Female MUTO, the film’s main antagonist.
History[]
Godzilla (2014)[]
After hatching in the remains of Dagon (an ancient member of Godzilla's species, who died long before the events of the movie) in 1999, the Male MUTO burrowed to a nuclear power plant and built a cocoon, with intent to feed off of the radiation, causing the plant to collapse and go into meltdown. Fifteen years later, in 2014, he emerged from the cocoon and used an electromagnetic pulse to shroud the area in darkness. The Male MUTO mortally wounded Joe Brody before flying off to find the Female MUTO and mate with her. The United States Navy pursued the Male MUTO as it crossed the Pacific Ocean. Until it arrived in Hawaii, where it had dragged a Russian nuclear submarine ashore and was feeding on its torpedoes. Fighter jets were sent in to try and stop the Male MUTO, but he released another EMP, knocking the jets out of the sky. He effortlessly divebombed gunboats, and was virtually unaffected by bullets and anti-aircraft rounds. Knowing that the if the MUTOs succeeded in reproducing, it would spell the end of both himself and humanity, Godzilla intercepted the Male MUTO in Honolulu. The Male MUTO fought Godzilla, thought neither were killed and the Male MUTO escaped, continuing his quest. Upon meeting the Female MUTO, the male MUTO stole a nuclear warhead and gifted it to her. She placed the bomb in a nest and laid her eggs. Unbeknownst to the MUTOs, Godzilla had followed them and was challenged by the Female MUTO. Godzilla quickly got the upper hand and was easily overpowering her, until the Male MUTO surprise attacked him, slashing at his gills and drawing blood, and then grabbing onto his back. Godzilla bit and swiped at the Male MUTO but was unable to get him off. Seeing an opening, the Female MUTO slammed into Godzilla, knocking him down, and the MUTO pair began severely beating down him. The MUTOs were close to killing Godzilla, however Ford Brody blew up their nest, the Male MUTO continued attacking a downed Godzilla briefly while his mate rushed to their nest, before leaving his enemy and joining her. The Female MUTO was deeply distressed by the destruction of her nest, and was about to kill Ford Brody, however, Godzilla, who had managed to get back on his feet, unleashed his atomic breath on her, twice, injuring her severely. The Male MUTO flew in to aid his mate and dragged Godzilla away from her, giving her time to retreat and recover. In their final battle, the Male MUTO landed several hits on Godzilla in a hit and run style of combat, easily outmanoeuvring him. until Godzilla grabbed and threw him away. The Male MUTO charged in one final, especially aggressive attack, but having learned his enemy's attack, Godzilla tail slammed the Male MUTO into a building with such ferocity that it severed one of his forelimbs. The Male MUTO had been impaled by a thick steel column, his eyes stopped glowing and he died.
Weaknesses and Strengths[]
The Male Muto's ability to fly gives him a considerable advantage over his mate when fighting against Godzilla, and was very useful for downing aircraft and divebombing boats. He was also able to swim too, as he launched himself out of the water and into flight with ease. The Male Muto is able to release an electromagnetic pulse from his claws, allowing him to disrupt all nearby electronic devices. The Male Muto's smaller size allowed him to dodge attacks, however it proved to be his downfall, as his light weight meant he could be thrown around easily. Godzilla killed him by throwing his full weight into a powerful tail-slam, which slammed the Male Muto through a building so powerfully that he was impaled, and one of his limbs was torn off.
