Madara Uchiha is the foremost antagonist of the manga and anime series Naruto. He is the co-founder of the village of Konohagakure (the Village Hidden in Leaves) and its first Rogue Ninja. Though thought to have died, Madara survived and planned to rule the Ninja World as a god, making Obito Uchiha into his apprentice Tobi. This process involved filling in Obito's destroyed body parts with Zetsu cells and training him, also crushing Obito's selfless and optimistic worldview that heavily resembled Naruto's. By arranging for his friend and love interest Rin Nohara to be stabbed in the chest by Kakashi's Chidori, Madara finally made Obito snap and favor his plot to place the Ninja World under the Infinite Tsukoyomi. Obito often identified himself as Madara when performing some of his most heinous acts, such as unleashing Kurama's wrath on the Hidden Leaf Village. He is eventually resurrected as an indestructible undead ninja and takes part in the Fourth Great Ninja War, where he slaughted hundreds of ninja combatants and nearly killed the Five Kage. He succeeds in his plan, only to be killed by his former ally, Black Zetsu, so he could bring back his mother, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.
