Mad Dog Morgendorffer is the posthumous overarching antagonist of the 1997 animated sitcom series Daria.
He is the late father of Daria Morgendorffer's father Jake Morgendorffer and is directly responsible for all of the latter's neuroses and emotional problems due to the severe abuse he subjected him to for his entire childhood. Although he is never physically seen within the show his presence is constantly felt due to Jake's recurring trauma over his life with him.
Biography[]
Very little is actually known about Mad Dog aside from the fact that he was a military veteran and Jake's father with the latter having an almost single minded obsession with him in the present due to the amount of psychological trauma he caused him over the years through the abuse he was subjected to at the latter's hands. Eventually sometime before the show's events Mad Dog died of an unspecified heart condition and Jake in the present has been rendered a nervous and emotionally damaged wreck thanks to the latter's actions, with many of his issues throughout the series being a direct result of his childhood trauma.
Thankfully however Jake has ensured to be as best of a parent as he can to his daughters Daria and Quinn with the latter two in return adoring him. He also is a loving marriage something that Mad Dog apparently lacked due to his own wife Ruth harbouring a secret dislike for him although it is unknown if he abused her in the same way that he did to Jake.
