Lydia Layne

Lydia Layne was the titular main villainess from "Lydia Layne's Better Half," episode 1.04B of Creepshow (airdate October 17, 2019).

She was played by Tricia Helfer.

Lydia Layne was introduced as the CEO of her company; established as a woman who shattered many proverbial glass ceilings on her way to the top. The beginning of the segment showed Lydia addressing two of her employees, Tom Harding and Celia Mendez (the latter being Lydia's lover), regarding the CFO position in her company. Lydia decided to promote Tom to CFO, much to the dismay of Celia, who accused Lydia of setting women back 20 years with her decision.

Lydia attempted to appease Celia by stating that she had bigger plans for both of them; however, Celia continued lashing out at her lover and realized that Lydia had been using her, while referring to Lydia as a hypocrite and threatening to ruin her. Lydia's slap to Celia only furthered Celia's plans, which later included going to various forms of media and accusing her of assault. The argument later turned physical and ended with Lydia killing Celia, doing so by tossing her across her office and causing Celia's head to be impaled by Lydia's Woman of the Year award.

Despite expressing shock over killing her lover, Lydia planned to cover up the murder; doing so by placing Celia's body on her office chair and wheeling her out of the building. Once she entered the elevator, the villainess cooked up her scheme, which had Lydia originally planning to stage Celia's death as a car accident; however, the elevator's power suddenly went out, leaving Lydia stuck with Celia's body. Lydia's first attempt to escape fell short, and she was phoned by maintenance regarding her situation, though Lydia didn't respond due to her true situation.

At that moment, the evil Lydia lashed out at Celia's corpse by mocking her education and stating that Celia will never be like her, while adding that she always won. The entire segment had Lydia haunted by Celia's corpse, which included the award being ejected from her head and a hand reaching out to attack her. In the segment's final scenes, Lydia attempted to climb out through the elevator, which was slowly moving and becoming operational again, but as she nearly escaped, a revived Celia grabbed Lydia by her hair and prevented her from leaving. Lydia shrieked as the elevator moved, causing her to be decapitated.
