Lockdown is the secondary antagonist of the 2014 action film Transformers: Age of Extinction and the main antagonist of the non-canon video game Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. He is a ruthless Transformer bounty hunter who hunts and kills both Autobots and Decepticons alike, secretly working for the creators.

History []

Age of Extinction[]

He is the partner-in-crime of Harold Attinger who helps him capture Optimus Prime and kill all of the Transformers on Earth. Upon arriving on the planet to proceed in completing his mission, he had, at some point, interacted with Attinger and learned of his purpose of eliminating all Transformers from Earth. The two would form a partnership and a mutual respect, forming a deal that he would assist Attinger's rogue CIA unit (Cemetery Wind), into hunting down Autobots being provided unlimited access to Earth's resources, in exchange for locating Optimus Prime. He finds Ratchet and has Cemetery Wind shoot him while he shoots him with his cannon, (which comes out of his face) and asks him for Optimus's location, and when Ratchet refuses to tell him, He rips out his spark killing him.

Attinger later meets up with him to discuss their partnership. Lockdown, however, is unimpressed with Attinger and confronts him over the lack of his and his unit's attempts to capture Optimus before questioning their partnership, with Attinger attempting to ensure Lockdown about their joint-quest for achieving their purposes. Afterwards, Attinger suspiciously questions him over his motives for capturing Optimus, and goes on to ask his true intentions, only for Lockdown to respond by warning Attinger about how they're supposed to settle their partnership, blaming Attinger and his mercenaries for causing Optimus and his autobots for escaping across the world. When Optimus Prime's location is discovered, Attinger sends his personal henchman James Savoy alongside his mercenaries to confront Optimus before warning Lockdown about this.

Lockdown gets himself into a position where he shoots down Cade Yeager's farm after witnessing Optimus and his newly human allies, including Cade, fleeing. He gives chase and catches up with Optimus, but is unable to apprehend him when Optimus fights back. He then uses one of his grenades to target Optimus's human allies, but is only successful in killing Cade's best friend Lucas, while the others flee with Optimus. After reuniting with the other Autobots, Optimus gradually begins to learn of Lockdown's presence and his friendship with Attinger, whom Optimus vows to personally kill for his cause against the Transformers.

As the story goes on, Lockdown unknowingly gets word of Optimus fighting Galvatron in a rendezvous location and proceeds to intervene their confrontation by heading there and shooting down Optimus. As Galvatron flees, Lockdown approaches Optimus and reveals his true purposes towards him, revealing his affiliation with the Creators in the process. After capturing Optimus aboard his ship, Lockdown heads down to meet with Savoy and his henchmen to honor his deal with Attinger by giving them the Seed, a bomb that will turn the city into Transformium, the mineral that all Transformers are made of.

He then leaves them to depart before preparing to launch out into space, but he discovers that the Autobots, alongside Cade, have come to rescue Optimus and sends his hunting party to dispose of them, which is unsuccessful, allowing the Autobots to rescue Optimus and for all of them to quickly escape Lockdown's ship just as it takes off. Having discovered this, and also finding out that Optimus had freed his Dinobots' captives as well, Lockdown furiously returns to Earth with the intention of hunting down Optimus and reclaiming his Dinobots by any means necessary. He gets word from Attinger about Optimus's current position in Hong Kong, and proceeds to active his magnetic weapon under his ship to recapture Optimus and the Dinobots.

He almost succeeds after leveling Hong Kong and nearly killing the Autobots (having outmaneuvered Galvatron's Decepticon army and the remainder of Cemetery Wind's forces, including Savoy), but Optimus manages to destroy the weapon and heads off to confront Lockdown, who disengages from his ship and engages Optimus in a one-on-one brawl. During the battle, Optimus gains the upper hand until he notices that Cade is held up at gunpoint by Attinger. Optimus is forced to save Cade by killing Attinger before resuming his fight with Lockdown, who uses this distraction to overpower Optimus and impale him against the wall with his sword.

After disgracing Optimus for betraying his own kind over another, he is attacked by Cade before getting fought by Bumblebee. He easily defeats Bumblebee before battling Cade and his family, going on to declare his intention to kill everyone. While Cade's daughter Tessa and her boyfriend Shane free Optimus, Lockdown corners Cade and prepares to finish him off. Before he can kill Cade, however, Optimus reclaims his sword midair, jumps up, and impales Lockdown through his spark and slices him in half, killing the villainous bounty hunter, and avenging all the Autobots he had killed. Shortly afterwards, Optimus escapes with Cade and his family after using Lockdown's final grenade to destroy Galvatron's remaining henchmen, which ultimately eradicates his deceased body into ashes alongside Attinger's.

Personality[]

Answering only to his enigmatic "Creators", Lockdown holds himself above the Autobot/Decepticon war and sees both sides as squabbling children that he has to rein in personally. He doesn't think much of other civilized species across the galaxy (particularly humans), though he isn't above working with them if it suits him. He even seems to despise his own race based on his view of the war being childish. Despite admitting that Lockdown doesn't care about Harold Attinger's reasons for hunting his fellow Transformers, he and the Agent have a mutual respect for strangely each other close to friendship.

Cybertronian Physiology: As a Cybertronian, who are naturally large, physically imposing and powerful race of machines with the characteristics of transforming into their vehicle forms, and appear god-like to the human race. Lockdown is able to transform into a Black Lamborghini Adventador LP700-4. He has a retractable green faceplate capable of picking up heat signatures and able to manifest several weapons like his signature Cybertronian sniper rifle which he can manifest from his face. All his other weapons can be morph from his hands which include a retractable hook, a spark extractor, a laser cannon that is either hand-held or attacked to his arm, shoulder-mounted missile launchers, and a special grenades that work similar to The Seed.
- Superhuman Strength: Lockdown possessing incredible strength, allowed him bested his larger opponents like Dinobots and Optimus Prime.
- Superhuman Durability: Lockdown possessing strong body armor after reform into Cybertronian Bounty Hunter, allowed him resistance against any projectiles attacks. Only Optimus Prime's sword of judgement could piercing through his armor.
- Superhuman Speed: Lockdown possessing incredible speed, allowed him to move while chase down any target opponents.

Lockdown is the only Transformer with green eyes as a sign of not being Autobot nor Decepticon. Although, Devastator has green eyes and he is a Decepticon.
- One of dying Guardian Knights in fifth movie has green eyes, but he was confirmed to be an Autobot.
Lockdown's robot mode greatly resembles Optimus Primal's robot mode in Transformers Beast Machine with his face resembling the Quintessons' symbol, except with a scar mark. This gives a possibility that the Creators are, in fact, the Quintessons.
According to one of comic series, Lockdown rechieved his scar from Knucklehead, Deadlock's/Drift's late honorable best friend whose rebels against him for being dishonorable creature.
Lockdown was voiced by Mark Ryan, who ironically voiced Autobots from the previous films such as a talking Bumblebee, Jetfire, and Ironhide (in the video games based on the first film).
Though Harold Attinger was the main villain in the fourth movie, Lockdown did most of the action and was far more menacing and threatening towards the Autobots and their human allies, than Attinger roles himself.
It is unknown how Lockdown discovered the Creators. Possible theory he possibly meet them at some point, like The Fallen did. As he mentioned that "We are worked for someone", to Optimus Prime.
Despite the fact that he is not a Decepticon, each his various toys have a Decepticon symbol, and the non-canon Transformers video game Rise of the Dark Spark labels him as a Decepticon as well. He is also portrayed in the prequel comics as a former Decepticon, whose reformed into Cybertronian Bounty Hunter at some point.
Lockdown having the ability to transform his face into a gun is a reference to Devcon, a G1 Autobot bounty hunter who is known for having a gun on his head, who ironically appeared in the previous film as a Decepticon instead.
Lockdown is originally meant to transform into a weather-beaten bounty hunter's muscle car with an exposed engine block similar to what his Animated counterpart transformed into but was changed into a Lamborghini Aventador due to Lamborghini's advertising of the said vehicle.
Some of Lockdown's characteristics roles mirror that of Lord Chumley, a minor villain from the original Transformers series.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

He butchers through hundreds of Cybertronians all across the galaxy during his various hunts before taking their mutilated corpses as trophies, raking up one of the highest first-hand kill counts in the original continuity of the film series.
He arrogantly believes he is above the Autobots and Decepticons, participates in a genocide against his own race, and goes to Earth to capture Optimus Prime so his employer(s) (who could be either the Creators or Quintessa) can begin their/her plans to wipe out the Cybertronians and restart from scratch.
In order to capture Optimus Prime, he partners up with Harold Attinger and personally participates in his genocidal campaign against all Cybertronian life on Earth, teaming up with Attinger's right-hand James Savoy to kill legions of Autobots and Decepticons alike with Cemetery Wind.
He does all this with the knowledge Attinger will desecrate their corpses to make synthesized slaves out of greed, and Lockdown was heavily indicated to be even why Attinger was so successful in his campaign. After Optimus escaped, Harold allowed Lockdown to do whatever he has to do.
He shoots a bested Ratchet, who was trying to reason with Cemetery Wind, before cornering him while he was weakened and helpless and then brutally extract his spark to kill him, taking it as his trophy and use that spark to give Cemetery Wind Optimus Prime's location since sparks contain a Transformer's memories and feelings.
He attacks the Yeager household and horribly murders Lucas by using a grenade that fries his skin off.
Upon capturing Optimus Prime with the teenage Tessa Yeager, he has the latter taken to the Dump to be torn apart and disposed of.
When Optimus Prime escapes with his trophy case, Lockdown deems it personal, so he returns to Earth and lays death and destruction across Hong Kong that caused massive collateral damage which he was permitted by Harold Attinger.
He has no care for his crew; he was never sad, concerned, or angry when all of his Steeljaws and Shadow Raiders, as well as the crew that takes care of his ship (including the drones that tried do tear Tessa apart) were all killed by the explosions that caused the Knight Ship to fly out of control before his final battle with Optimus.
He attempts to kill Cade and all the Autobots present before Optimus finally kills him for good.
His destructive actions, along with Attinger's, would cause the relations between humans and Cybertronians to deteriorate even further, as even after Attinger's crimes were exposed and Cemetery Wind was shut down for it's crimes, the Battle of Hong Kong led to the world leaders deem all Cybertronians illegal and fund the anti-Cybertronian organization Transformers Reaction Force (or TRF for short) to capture or kill any Cybertronian spotted on Earth and would keep doing it until an alliance with the Autobots to save Earth from Quintessa would make it's field commander Santos realize the error of the organization's ways and amend the relations once and for all.

Lockdown's Earth vehicle mode is a Lamborghini Aventador.
Lockdown is depicted as a former Decepticon in the Titan Comic prequels to Age of Extinction.
His green eyes represent his impartiality, not being an Autobot or a Decepticon.
It was stated by a screenwriter that Lockdown may return in a future film and could still be alive, but the sequels that would have taken place after The Last Knight were cancelled.
