The Lions are the main antagonists of the 2005 film Duma, despite their small role.
Role[]
At the beginning of the film, one of the baboons spots one of the lions stalking in the bushes. Duma's mother tries to escape them, but one of them catches her and they roar triumphantly, leaving Duma and his siblings orphaned until he is rescued by a boy named Xan.
Throughout Xan and Duma's journey with Ripkuna, they would hear lions roaring as well as hyenas laughing in the distance during camping. When Xan and Duma get separated by a herd of buffaloes, a group of lions are seen as Xan searches for Duma. One male lion walks through the plains, along with a hyena. Ripkuna manages to rescue both Xan from a boar and Duma from a poacher's trap and keep them safe on their journey.
Later, after Ripkuna gets bitten by a swarm of tsetse flies, they are stalked by the pride during a rainy night. They light up some fire and the lions back away. When Xan heads out to get help, the lions follow him, but Duma breaks free from his leash and leads the lions away. Duma manages to lose the pride before he discovers his long-lost brother.
