Len Windass was the brother of Eddie Windass. Len Was close to his Nephew Gary Windass and Was the source of his scrapes. When Eddie and his common in law wife Anna refused to pay for a kitchen fitted by Joe McIntyre. As a result Joe's daughter Tina her boyfriend David Platt and their Friend Graeme Proctor ripped out The Windasses Kitchen and set it on fire in retaliation Len and Gary then destroyed the Platts Kitchen. When Eddie and Anna later rented a flat from Jerry Morton they became the Platte next door neighbors. During the ongoing feud between the two families Len helped Gary steal Copier piping from the builder's yard, which was done to intentionally make the owners think Joe was responsible due to his money problems. When David attacked Gary it started a fight, which left him hospitalized. Len tried to cajole Tina into telling the truth in order to Save Gary from prison, however Gary, having had a soft spot for Tina, did not take kindly to this and punched his uncle. In an attempt to stop Tina testifying against Gary, Len made a deal with Joe that if he persuaded Tina to tell the truth Len would land him a job to fit the kitchens for a development he was involved in. After Tina admitted the truth Len secured Joe a job, as well as securing a loan which would allow him to buy the materials needed for the job, however Joe was fired when he failed to meet the deadlines, which later led him into trouble with loan shark Rick Neelan. When David tricked Gary into burglarizing a house to call the police on him, Len offered his nephew an alibi but Gary decided to confess, which landed him in prison. Len later moved to Germany and Gary hid at his flat after going awol from the army. Eddie later joined Len after his break up with Anna to work with him.
