Ok, here's the deal. You collect 250 grand from your boss and leave it at the drop off point in the docks. I collect it and then I'll tell you where the girl is. Understood?
~ The Kidnapper making his deal with the player.
She's in a blue Fjord down an alley in the centre of the city. Good day to you.
~ The Kidnapper's redemption.

The Kidnapper is the main antagonist of the 1st mission in the 6th chapter, "Born Slippy" in the 2001 video game, Payback and its 2012 sequel, Payback 2.

Biography[]

The Kidnapper is an enigmatic figure who starts with kidnapping the crime boss' daughter. The boss realizes this and sends our protagonist, Travis to rescue his daughter. The kidnapper tells Travis to pay him a ransom of $250,000 at the docks and he says that he will collect it and tell Travis where the girl is. When Travis drops the briefcase at the docks, the kidnapper collects it and reveals the location of the boss' daughter, ultimately leading to his redemption (in the original ending). In the alternate ending where Travis kills him, the kidnapper remotely triggers a bomb set to explode in 1 minute to kill the boss' daughter that Travis has to rescue and it's later found out that he also chained the boss' daughter up.

Personality[]

Unlike the typical antagonist who is rude, mean, arrogant and egotistical, he doesn't have any jerkish qualities and is in fact an affable and calm man. He keeps his word to Travis and gives the boss' daughter back as promised, meaning he is honest and has some honor, which leads him to his redemption. He even says good day to Travis after he picks up the money, showing his manners and affability.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only character in the Payback series to be fully redeemed while Travis and the boss are the only on & off characters.
