I'm a different man now, Mike. You should be happy, the way I turned out.
~ Krolinsky making excuses for molesting children

Joseph "Joe" Krolinsky is the main antagonist of the Law & Order episode "Bad Faith". He is a former priest who has molested dozens of young boys.

He is portrayed by Bill Raymond.

Early life[]

In the 1960s, Krolinsky was the parish priest of a working class neighborhood in New York City, beloved by parents for his apparent dedication to their children. Unbeknownst to them, however, Krolinsky was a pedophile who preyed upon young boys. Among his victims were Mike Logan and Billy Marino; he manipulated the latter into inviting younger boys to his house for him to abuse, giving him baseball tickets in return.

Krolinsky was finally arrested in 1968 for molesting a boy named Stewart Waller, but was given a lesser charge with no jail time because the boy's fervently religious mother only permitted him to say that Krolinsky had touched him through his clothes. The Vatican sent Krolinsky to a psychiatric hospital, where he was soon pronounced cured and allowed to resume his ministry. Krolinsky kept abusing boys, however, only to be sent again and again to hospitals for treatment so the Vatican could hush up his crimes. By the time he retired from the priesthood in 1981, he had molested dozens of children; by then, no one in Vatican leadership even bothered to warn his new parishes about his predatory behavior,

After retiring, Krolinsky got a job as an insurance claims adjustor, and married a woman named Kate, with whom he had two sons. When his eldest son reached Krolinsky's age preference, he began molesting the boy.

In "Bad Faith"[]

In 1995, Marino, by now a detective with the NYPD's sex crimes, is found dead, an apparent homicide.
