Honest John Worthington Foulfellow is one of the main antagonists in Pinocchio. He is a cunning though illiterate fox. Along with his sidekick, Gideon, he is the reason why Pinocchio didn't go to school and Geppetto went to look for him, tricking Pinocchio into selling him to Stromboli. He is briefly a minion of the Coachman, later accepting his offer to take naughty children to Pleasure Island. Foulfellow serves as Pinocchio's arch nemesis.

He is voiced by the late Walter Catlett.

Personality[]

He is a sneaky dishonest fox who likes to trick Pinocchio into going in the "easy road of success".

Pinocchio[]

Honest John is first seen strolling down the street with Gideon when they see that Stromboli has come back to town, and recalled how they once tried to fool him by making Gideon look like a puppet. They then come across Pinocchio. Realizing that he is a living, stringless and breathing puppet. Because of that, Honest John and Gideon decide to get rich by tricking Pinocchio into thinking that they are good people and friends, and leading him to Stromboli.

They later meet the Coachman in the Red Lobster Inn where they talk about how they tricked Pinocchio. The Coachman later discusses his plan to send naughty boys to Pleasure Island. Honest John was horrified when the Coachman tells them that the boys never return as normal human boys and terrified of being caught by the law. Nevertheless, Honest John, and Gideon obey the Coachman's orders out of fear, and not out of money.

Honest John and Gideon later encounter Pinocchio again, and pretend to be doctors, convincing the wooden boy that he is "allergic" and that the only cure is a visit to Pleasure Island. They gave him a "ticket" (a simple Ace of Spades), and bring him to the coach for Pleasure Island.

Later, Geppetto learned of Pinocchio being on Pleasure Island (probably from the villagers who heard the two crooks), hinting has been discovered in the end.[1][2]
