The Hobo is a minor character in the animated cartoon series The Amazing World of Gumball. He is a panhandler who tries to earn money which turns out successful, out of thievery or just luck.
He was voiced by Dan Russell, who voiced also Tina Rex and Cragger from Lego CHIMA.
Biography[]
The Hobo is first seen in the show sitting outside of a store waiting for money. He asks Gumball and Darwin Watterson that the reason they were on the streets was because they were trying to get money for a broken DVD. They say yes but then, The Hobo swap his hat with theirs which had 3 dollars inside. When Gumball tried to get it back, The Hobo started growling which then turns into a beatbox session. After Gumball and Darwin earn another dollar for their freestyle, The Hobo stole it along with their three dollars and walked into the store to buy a scratch card. After he told the boys that he became a millionaire after winning the scratch card he spent with their money, they'd ask him for half their money but The Hobo lied and said that he didn't have any change and walked away with money being heard in his pockets.
The Hobo's second appearance as an antagonist is in the episode, The Castle, where he's first seen roasting a turkey in a can of fire. The second time he's seen in the episode he's informing Richard Watterson that he will have some "friends" over which turns out to be a pack of rats, futhering the mess of the Watterson home. The next time he's seen in the episode he has on Gumball's outfit. Gumball tells him that it's his but The Hobo taunts him by replying, "Not anymore!" and laughs. After Gumball makes a statement to the people of Elmore who they think in their point of view there aren't any rules at the Watterson home, they (including The Hobo) throw them out of their own house and when Darwin points out it's the family's home, the trespassers reply to them by saying, "Not anymore!". After a couple of attempts to no avail, Gumball has another idea (unlocking the door with Richard's credit card). While Gumball spoke to Richard, The Hobo was able to steal the credit card from through the door (him and the rats taunt Gumball) as he ordered two thousand boxes of pizza. The Wattersons have another idea; they disguise as pizza delivery boys (Gumball poses as the man, Darwin holds Gumball up to make him taller while Richard hides in the boxes). The plan worked as Richard finally told the trespassers to get out of their house, but they all intimidate him and they end up getting put out of their house again. When Nicole Watterson arrives, she tells the trespassers to clean the house and never come back. Harold Wilson tries to intimidate her but Nicole gives him a highly intense death glare. Upon seeing this, all the trespassers including Hobo quickly clean the house, frightened.
The Hobo makes a cameo appearance in "The Plan" walking through the park still wearing Gumball's outfit. It looks as if The Hobo successfully stole his outfit making it clear he didn't take Nicole's intense death glare seriously.
He makes a short antagonistic role in "The Pizza". First, the Wattersons were on their way to Elmore to apologize to Larry Needlemeyer but their gas was seemingly stolen by an unknown person. Once Gumball brought up that people didn't just steal the gas, a mob of people including The Hobo stole each and every part of the car until there was nothing left of it.
He makes a cameo appearance in "The Sale" as he's seen resting in Mr and Mrs. Robinson's bathtub. It looks likely that The Hobo broke into their home without them knowing.
This episode doesn't entirely count as an antagonistic role but in "The Vegging", he's seen as a mutant attacking a scientist. This is the last episode The Hobo had any antagonistic roles.
Appearance[]
The Hobo is a humanoid of an unknown species. He is covered in brown fur enough for it to almost cover his eyes, he also has purple noticeable bags under his eyes, a reddish nose and a bushy tail. The Hobo's attire consists of an olive brown trench coat, and a greyish brown fedora. Under the trench coat, he wears a suit. The suit consists of a red waistcoat with a white shirt and black pants.
Personality[]
For a minor character, The Hobo has made a reputation for himself in the show. He's mischievous, a liar, a cheater, and a thief. In some instances, The Hobo is greedy considering the fact he took the rest of Gumball and Darwin's money while having it in his pockets and him ordering two thousand boxes of pizza with Richard's credit card.
