Helen Shyres is one of the members of Mortimer Snerds in the novel and film Carrie. She is one of the many bullies that tormented the titular anti-villainess Carrie White.

Novel[]

Helen first appears in the novel throwing tampons at Carrie when she received her period causing her to receive a detention. She helped Sue with the decorations and she had no objection to Tommy taking Carrie to the prom. She attended the prom in which the incident occurred. When Carrie is drenched in blood, Helen is in a corner giggling in fear. She presumably was electrocuted or burned at the prom. Her mother Mrs. Shyres died when Chamberlain was getting destroyed by Carrie.

She then appears with Norma Watson (P.J. Soles) talking about Carrie going to the prom and making fun of her about what she was going to wear. At the prom, she and Ruthie Gogan (Sharon Benson) were serving drinks at the prom when the Black Prom massacre started. When the Black Prom massacre started she and Ruthie are standing on a table but both of them fall at the same time. When Carrie leaves the burning prom Helen's body is bent over a table and Ruthie is attending to it but it was too late.
