Gabriel Agreste (a.k.a. Hawk Moth) is the main antagonist of Miraculous Ladybug. He used his powers for evil after his wife apparently died from using her miraculous too often, for the master, Wang Fu, lost The Butterfly Miraculous and the peacock which ended up in the hands of the Agreste family.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Gabriel owns the Butterfly Miraculous, which grants the power of Transmission. With it, he has the following abilities:

• Akumatization - he can create akumas.
• Telepathy - he speaks to his akumatized victims.
• Mouth Shut - He is able to seal Nooroo's mouth, making him unable to speak.

As the Collector

Hawk Moth akumatized himself so that nobody would suspect him. He gained the following abilities:

• Boomerang throw - he threw his book around like a boomerang and never missed.
• Telekinesis - he also has the ability to telekinetically recall his book.
• Combat - he engaged Ladybug and Cat Noir with a great deal of skill.

History

Gabriel married an actress named Emilie and had a son named Adrien. Sometime, he found the Butterfly and Peacock miraculous as well as receiving the miraculous book from his wife herself. Sadly, his wife died of an unknown cause (although likely because of the Peacock miraculous). Since then, he used his miraculous' power for evil.

Trivia

• In two episodes, Hawk Moth said that "revenge is a dish best served cold". In "Feast", he referenced to it, saying, "it will be served, very cold".  
• When he found out Adrien was Cat Noir, he took advantage of him and tried to use him against Ladybug.
