We snuck a bomb in McQueen's pit!
~ Grem
The next time he makes a stop, instead of saying 'ka-chow', he's gonna go 'ka boom'!
~ Acer

Grem and Acer are the major antagonists of Disney/Pixar's 12th full-length feature film, Cars 2.

Grem was voiced by Joe Mantegna, and Acer was voiced by Peter Jacobson.

Grem is a dented, rusty orange AMC Gremlin. After years of being dismissed for his design, even being called a "lemon," Grem has a big chip on his fender that has led him to the underworld of international espionage.

As a henchman for a villainous boss Professor Z, Grem and his partner-in-crime Acer are trying to sabotage the World Grand Prix and the famous race cars competing in it. When Grem and Acer mistake Mater for an American agent with important top-secret information, the ruthless lemons set out on a-round the globe to stop Mater from foiling their evil scheme.

Acer has always felt like an outcast in the car world. The beat-up green AMC Pacer joined forces with fellow "lemon" cars as henchman for the devious Professor Z, whose clandestine mission is to wreck havoc at the highly visible World Grand Prix.

Acer must hunt down the American and British secret agents who've stolen crucial information about Professor Z's unhanded plot his primary target just happens to be Mater, who's been mistaken for a spy. Acer tries very hard to be a tough guy, but he's over-eager compared to his no-nonsense accomplice Grem.

They first appear at the end of Leland Turbo recording for Finn McMissile and killed the agent. They show his corpse to Zündapp and chase McMissile on the oil rig and then on battleships. One of the ships sends a torpedo at Finn and Grem, believing him dead, announces to Z that they got him.

They then appear at Tokyo and assault the American agent, Rod Redline. Thanks to Mater's intervention, Rod sends him the information chip without his knowing it and lets himself be captured by the two lemons. In their secret lair, Grem activates the wave camera on Rod and Acer tries to get him to confess to whom he gave the information. They find out that Mater has them and kill the agent.

Hidden in the stands during the first race, Grem and Acer blow up several racers and are ordered to kill Mater, however they fail after a fight against Finn that they thought to be dead. The two ones stalk Mater to the airport and chase him with McMissile on the take-off runways but fail again to kill him.

The next time we see Grem and Acer is in Porto Corsa, Italia. On a catwalk, they continue to blast racers with the camera, which delights Acer. As McMissile runs to stop them, the two had anticipated and the agent is captured by helicopter.

During the last race in London, Grem and Acer tied up Mater, Holley and Finn inside Big Bentley. They laugh as they explain that they have to kill Lightning McQueen who still wants to use Allinol to compete. But for some reason they don't know, the camera didn't work and Z orders them to go to plan B. Knowing that Mater would go and rescue McQueen, they placed a bomb in his air filter in order to detonate him once he got to the pit. The professor in charge of detonating the bomb is out of Lightning's reach, as he was taken away by Mater. Grem and Acer go away to kill them themselves but Holley, in flight, collides with them and the two lemons jumps in a tavern. The customers, furious by the chaos they have caused, beat them up. It is unknown what happened to Grem and Acer afterwards, though it is possible that they were eventually found and arrested in London for their numerous crimes.

Grem and Acer were the only characters to be voiced by two actors from Chicago Illinois.
