“ | Remember Jeremy? | „ |
~ Glichtraps most famous quote |
“ | I always come back. Let me out. | „ |
~ Glichtrap (who may possibly be William Afton) demanding to be let out (note that in-game it's reversed and distorted). |
Glitchtrap is the main antagonist of the Steel Wool era of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. They are also somehow connected with William Afton. They are both somehow William Afton at the same time which would explain their murderous and mischievous behavior.
Backstory[]
Currently Unknown
Despite his backstory being unknown there are some things known about Glitchtrap. After the fire that happened at Fazbear's Fright Fazbear Entertainment decided to salvage all the circuit boards they could find to create something else. A brand new VR video game called FNaF VR. Because Faz Ent. Failed to clear their name and erase the rumors about their company this was the next next choice and they sent the boards to the game devs. They soon found out that something had been mind controlling their employees and causing trouble and because Faz Ent. couldn't delete the virus they decided to not tell anyone about it due to their greed and ego. Glitchtrap had mind controlled the employees after being free from their "prison" and now wanted a physical body. He used Vanny to somehow insert him into the Mimic, it's unknown how but she did and Glitchtrap used this to influence the mimics choices and take control of the mimic for their evil purposes. Glitchtrap would also take control of Jeremy (the guard from FNaF 2) and because Jeremy resisted him he made Jeremy kill himself. Glitchtrap's plans were in motion and he would soon rise even higher in power because the mimic was now connected to the pizzaplex thanks to Mr. Burrows and this had allowed Glitchtrap to practically take control of everything in the Pizzaplex.
Personality[]
Glitchtrap is practically the definition of pure evil. He's very petty and manipulative he's so petty that when Jeremy refused to become his minion he made him kill himself. Glitchtrap often manipulates those who are weak or powerful as Glitchtrap wants to create the most powerful army he can seemingly for the reason of killing kids.
Glitchtrap has a god like complex as he thinks everything he says is law and that he should be obeyed. He has no problem with mind breaking people or even abusing them to do what he wants or becoming what he wants them to be. A good example would be Vanny as she was once a simple woman but then Glitchtrap mind breaked her into becoming what he wanted her to be and made her kill tons of innocent kids. Glitchtrap likes torturing his own minions if they "step out of line". Glitchtrap likes watching them and his enemies cower in fear and watch them beg for mercy. Glitchtrap even manipulates those who hate him so that he can use them for his own gain. When Cassidy encountered him he demanded that she let him out immediately and most likely tried to manipulate her to become a servant of his as well.
Glitchtrap often breaks his promises and tricks those around him. Glitchtrap has a joy for showing others videos of people harming themselves and loves traumatizing people from what he does. Glitchtrap has traumatized many people and loves doing it all for his own twisted amusement.
Glitchtrap is very failure intolerant and should his minions fail him he often reminds them of what things he will do to torture them and make them suffer. He often pretends to care and show remorse for his minions but in reality sees them as nothing more than pawns and idiots. Glitchtrap has no problem killing them as shown with Jeremy as he made Jeremy kill himself with a paper cutter showing just how sadistic and petty Glitchtrap truly is.
Five Nights at Freddy's 3[]
Glitchtrap appears in FNaF 3 as a purple sprite and travels around all the various minigames until they are found and "scanned". Upon Glitchtrap being scanned he was later then uploaded to the FNaF: VR game and would then start his murder spree.
16 Tapes Ending[]
Once all the tapes have been collected, Glitchtrap attempts to merge with the player and escape the game in their body. When this happens, Glitchtrap appears on the main stage and the player accesses the Blacklight Switch, the Showtime and Prize Corner Buttons, and a button on the left side of the level select monitor to reset the game.
If the instructions from Tape 16 are not followed the player's vision will slowly fade into a glitchy, purple screen. Once it clears, the player will be standing on the stage as Spring Bonnie. The game will then fade to black and the player arrives in the game-over room with the option to return to the menu.
If the instructions from Tape 16 are followed the player appears before a metal door with a sliding lock. When opened, Glitchtrap will look through the hole in the door, place a finger to his mouth and shush the player before walking back into the darkness. When the player appears back in the main area, a Glitchtrap plush will be on the floor to their right.
Curse of Dreadbear[]
If the player wears the Reluctant Follower's mask, and holds the Glitchtrap plushie, Vanny, the Reluctant Follower, most likely communicates with Glitchtrap, telling him that she will be ready.
Five Nights at Freddy's: security Breach[]
Glitchtrap returns in the game FNaF: Security breach and they appear in a minigame called "princess quest". They are attacked by a being called "The princess" and they are heavily implied to be Golden Freddy. Should the player beat the game it's revealed that Glitchtrap is destroyed by the princess.
But Glitchtrap would somehow survive and transfer their conciseness and later appear in Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2.
Help Wanted 2[]
Glitchtrap returns in the game because despite being destroyed in the Princess Quest game he returns as a plushie. The player can get the plushie by finding the Daycare attendant and once they get it they then hand it to Vanny who destroys it killing Glitchtrap.
An Alternative ending is where the player finds Burntrap tube (implying that Glitchtrap may be The Mimic) and they are then attacked by several staff bots.
