Gabi Braun is a major antagonist in the anime and manga series Attack on Titan. She is a child Marleyan soldier and a Warrior candidate training to inherit the Armored Titan from her cousin, Reiner Braun.
History[]
Gabi was born in the Liberio internment zone, one of the internment camps for Eldians living in Marley. Gabi is part of the Warrior program, selected classes of Eldians who train for the right to inherit one of the Titan powers in Marley's possession. Like most Eldians in Marley, Gabi believes the Eldians of Paradis Island to be "devils" and makes it her personal mission to wipe out every single one of them.
One night during the festival hosted in Liberio, Eren Yeager and the Survery Corps attack the festival, killing several soldiers and civilians in the process. In a blind rage, Gabi follows them to their zeppelin, with her friend and fellow cadet Falco following behind her, and kills Lobov and Sasha Braus, two of the Survey Corps. As a result, Gabi and Falco were beaten by Floch and his fellow soldiers, nearly being killed until Jean intervened, instead being taken back to Paradis Island as prisoners. Gabi and Falco manage to escape and end up on the Braus family farm, being taken in by Kaya, Sasha's adoptive sister whom she rescued from a Titan several years earlier. Falco cooperates with the Braus family and helps them around the farm to show gratitude, while Gabi continues to rant about the Island Devils, trying to kill Kaya before being stopped by Falco. Kaya knows the two are from Marley and tells them her biological mother was eaten by a Titan, asking what she did to deserve it, starting the long process of Gabi realizing that everything she was taught was wrong.
The Braus family take Gabi and Falco to a family meal at the restaurant Sasha's presumed lover Nicolo works at. Knowing Nicolo is also a Marleyan, Gabi and Falco sneak off to try and get his help in returning home. However, in order to convince him they are "good" Eldians, Gabi tells him she shot and killed one of the soldiers. Nicolo realizes that the soldier killed was Sasha, and he attacks the two children, knocking out Falco while indirectly poisoning him with wine tainted by Zeke Yeager's spinal fluid, as well as punching Gabi and exposing her to the Braus family. He offers Sasha's parents a chance to avenge their daughter as Gabi insinuates that Nicolo has been seduced by the island devils. Mr. Braus instead chooses not to kill Gabi...only for Kaya to try and kill Gabi herself before being stopped by Mikasa. Kaya tearfully calls Gabi a murderer as the two children are taken away once again.

Trivia[]
- The creator and write Hajime Isayama has confirmed that Gabi's character was based in part upon the character Arya Stark from Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire).
- Isayama previously revealed that Gabi's design is partially based on a sketch he did of a female version of Eren Yeager, the protagonist of the series.
- Gabi also resembles Tsubaki from the prototype Attack on Titan Volume 0.
- Teenage Gabi in her post-timeskip appearance resembles Frieda Reiss. In the manga version, Gabi's hair color is black.
- Gabi's sketches in the Attack on Titan: Final Manga Exhibition revealed that her name was originally going to be Gabi Lübke.
- Due to killing fan-favorite character Sasha Braus, Gabi has become one of the most hated characters in the series and to this day remains unpopular in the eyes of many due to her actions.
