â | These barbarians pretend to be submissive, but they're dangerous. They could bare their fangs against us at any time. They are, after all, a species completely comprised of warriors. It's always best to put a sleeping beast down, before it can be awakened. | â |
~ Frieza planning to wipe out the Saiyans. |
â | Oh, to see the Dragon Balls turn to stone at the very moment your wish might have come true. Quite a pill to swallow, eh, Vegeta? Of course, even more so for myself. As a matter of fact, in all my years, I have never been so angry as I am now. How incredibly irritating not to have seen the writing on the wall... now you pay! You vile, filth-sucking maggots! You will rue the day you crossed my path! Prepare yourself to embrace oblivion! | â |
~ Frieza vowing revenge on Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin, and Dende after his immortality plan failed. |
Freeza, more commonly spelled as Frieza in the FUNimation dub, is the main antagonist of the Dragon Ball franchise.
He is one of the emperors of Universe 7 who is feared across the cosmos with the goal is to achieve immortality and absolute compilation of power. He is the youngest son of King Cold, he younger brother of Cooler, and the arch-nemesis of both Goku and Vegeta due to destroying their home planet as well as primarily their fellow Saiyans.
In Japanese, he is voiced by Ryƫsei Nakao, who also voices his brother Cooler in the same franchise, Agent Abrella in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, Mayuri Kurotsuchi in Bleach, Caesar Clown in One Piece, Nana in from Magical Girl Site, and Kohei Sawaki in Case Closed: The Fourteenth Target. In English, he was voiced by Linda Young in the FUNimation English dub of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT, the late Christopher Ayres in the FUNimation English dub of Dragon Ball Z Kai, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F, and Dragon Ball Super, and is set to be voiced by Daman Mills in all future FUNimation-dubbed appearances.

~ Heles about Frieza's cruelty. |
Frieza is the absolute definition of pure evil. He may act polite at first but he is an extremely sadistic individual who takes great pleasure in slaughtering and destroying others, particularly on a massive scale. At his core, Frieza relishes inflicting death, agony, and destruction; this is best shown when he laughed in delight as he watched Planet Vegeta blow up from his Supernova attack. Frieza also enjoys making people suffer before killing them, which is why he does not kill his foes right away. A notable fact is that he has tortured every character to fight him. However, as evil as he is, his genocidal behavior has limits, limited to planets, as he has shown annoyance in the destruction of universes from those of a higher station than him like Zeno (although considering the fact he has no problem betraying his universe and eliminating others, it's more likely the nonchalant way it is done rather than revulsion of the act itself). Indeed, even his destruction of planets was only as last resort.
He has a sibling rivalry with his older brother, Cooler. He always tries to defeat his brother countless times to prove he is better than him.
He is also extremely cold, egotistical and manipulative, so he has a rather sardonic sense of humor, such as when he was talking about Vegeta and stated, "There are three things I refuse to tolerate. Cowardice, bad haircuts, and military insurrection. And, unfortunately, our friend Vegeta possesses all three of these". Frieza is also very cold-hearted and bloodthirsty, so he cares about no one but himself, though he is extremely appreciative and respectful of his father, King Cold. Frieza's personality seems to be a counter to Goku's lighthearted, charming, kind, and peaceful one, but it is unknown if this was done intentionally. Originally he used power as a way of handling any problem that comes his way in the past, over time he has lost this thinking and now uses more strategy to get what he wants. An example is of how he handled Toppo and Jiren, after getting beaten down by them instead of breaking down over it. He used his telekinesis and paralysis to hold them down and had Android 17 back him up in attacking them.
He is usually able to react to any situation evenly and only loses his cool when even his full power is not enough or if one of his men either fail or disobey him. However, for all his pride and arrogance, Frieza is also rather paranoid and passionate, destroying Planet Vegeta simply because of a myth of a Super Saiyan, which was supposed to be the one thing that could destroy him. Despite this, he boasts of being the strongest being in the universe, and he is (for the most part) correct in this assessment.
Despite his vast arrogance and pride, he is not above team-ups and indeed has worked with Beerus, Frost, Goku, Gohan, and Android 17 to achieve his goals. For all his tyrannical and ruthless nature, he has respect (albeit twisted) for Goku and acknowledged him as a formidable opponent, going so far as to admit that he was grateful for Goku's naive nature in the tournament, working alongside him to defeat Jiren. Additionally, he has a very strong will; countless times throughout the tournament, he chose to get back up despite being beaten badly by Toppo and Jiren, continuing to fight fervently in the face of adversity, rarely pleading for his life when he is on his knees. Frieza even trusted Goku enough to ring himself out along with Jiren so long as Goku kept his word. Beerus even went so far as to compliment him for his superb job in the Tournament of Power and rewarded him with resurrection. He also shows that despite his arrogance, he is willing to avoid fights he knows he cannot win as shown when he gives some of his ki to Goku in order to heal him rather than face Jiren head on.
In the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie, Frieza shows he, for the most part, hasn't changed since the TOP. While he does treat his men better, rewarding Cheelai and Lemo for finding Broly and casually discussing the silliness of his wish with Kikiono, he still tries to kill Goku and Vegeta indirectly by using Broly as a pawn despite knowing how dangerous he can be and even kills Paragus to trigger a transformation out of Broly. Even if he still wants revenge on Goku, he no longer seems to obsess him like the first time he came back to life, accepting defeat and wisely leaving Earth after being defeated. After killing Broly's father to trigger him, Frieza watches in delight as Broly overwhelms until Goku and Vegeta turn Broly against him, so they could go to Piccolo and teach him the Fusion Dance. This shows that Frieza is still an evil psychopath despite becoming friendlier but he is not as cruel as his first appearance on Namek.
Furthermore, despite his better treatment of his men, he did kill some of them for mocking his height. However, he didnât kill or even harm Berryblue despite her playfully teasing him about his height implying he had some genuine fondness and affection towards her as she was his childhood nanny. He even affectionately agreed with her when she correctly guesses he will use the Dragon Balls to get taller due to his insecurity of his height. Therefore, while Frieza still lacks any redeeming traits as he was willing to betray Universe 7 even if it meant Berryblue getting erased as well, it is clear that he has mellowed out if only because he is taking a more pragmatic approach.
In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Frieza is shown to have gained considerable interest in the Future Warrior for his amazing power and prowess. He states that he expects they would easily pass the entrance exam and was visibly very impressed when they lived up to his belief. He keeps constant tabs on the Future Warrior and shows increasing pleasure as he continues to rise in rank and should he reach the authority surpassed only by Frieza himself, Frieza has by then become fully confident the Future Warrior can spar with him. When acting as an instructor, Frieza is strict but when the Future Warrior proves his worth, he shows he was pleased. If the Warrior was a member of his clan and should best him, Frieza would give up his throne without hesitation and while vowing to reclaim it, he was pleased should they won and achieve the Golden Form. This implied that while he cares little for the Warrior even if they are part of his race, he still values and respects him to a degree beyond that which he treats any of his subordinates. Furthermore, as with the first game, Frieza also shows concern whenever the Future Warrior gets injured or struggles in missions whenever they work together.
Other appearances[]
Dragon Ball Z movies[]
It was said that the most of the Dragon Ball movies happened in another dimension separate from the main timeline, so several different dimensional counterparts of Frieza appear as villains.
Episode of Bardock[]
Frieza appears at the beginning of the movie, where he uses his Supernova to destroy Planet Vegeta, sending Bardock back in time.
Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans[]
In Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, Frieza escaped as ghost fighter along with Cooler, Turles, and Lord Slug thanks to Raichi. They plan to kill all living Saiyans. Frieza fights with Trunks and Vegeta and gets killed by Trunks, however, in an alternate ending, Frieza kills Trunks and Vegeta. In another alternate ending, in the pre-fight with Frieza and Son Gohan, Frieza is easily overpowering Gohan in the fight. Frieza ends up killing Gohan after punching the half-Saiyan in the stomach a few times.
Fusion Reborn[]
In the movie Fusion Reborn, Janemba's appearance caused many villains, including Frieza, to escape from Hell. Several of his henchmen, as well as movie villains (including Bojack and Paragus), were working for him, and he sent them to attack Son Gohan. But Gohan punched Frieza in the stomach and blew him up, destroying him.
Resurrection F[]
In the movie, Frieza was first seen in hell (in his mecha form) with a bunch of cute animals dancing around in a parade, much to the tyrant's dissatisfaction. He was later revived by the Dragon Balls and promises to kill both Goku and Future Trunks for their roles in his defeat when he exits the rejuvenation chamber. Frieza is in his base form when he meets Sorbet, Tagoma, Shisami and the rest of his army.
Tagoma suggests focusing on rebuilding his empire, the enraged Frost Demon blasts open the window, sucking him out into space. Frieza hears about Goku's increased strength over the years from Sorbet, causing him to train as well for four months (believing that he can easily catch up, due to being a prodigy).
He and his troops arrived at Earth and shoot a Death Beam that destroyed a small city, as a means of calling for Goku and his friends. He finds out that Goku is not present, and decides to let his soldiers fight the Z-Fighters, afterward he proceeds to kill his men for their failure, and then turns his attention towards the Z-team, first attacking Gohan and putting him in a comatose state.
He was later encountered by Goku and Vegeta, Frieza immediately turns into his Final Form and fights evenly against a Goku's base form, until revealing his Ultimate Form (that he simply calls Golden Frieza), which was more than strong enough to overpower the latter (in his Super Saiyan Blue form), until Frieza's stamina drops tremendously causing him to become weaker.
At that moment Sorbet critically injures Goku and Frieza admits to having a backup plan just in case, and proceeds to beat the weakened Saiyan before Vegeta intervenes, he then fights against Vegeta (whose power is close to Goku's), but couldn't land a scratch on the Saiyan Prince. When it seemed that he was beaten, Frieza destroys the Earth until Whis turns back time to three minutes, allowing Goku to obliterate the Frost Demon with a Super Kamehameha Wave. Back in Hell, the angels are playing together happily while the defeated Frieza screams in rage and sorrow in being returned to his torment.
Dragon Ball Super: Broly[]
Frieza appears in the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie again as the main antagonist and the true mastermind of the events that occur. Frieza sends his forces to steal the Dragon Balls from Capsule Corporation so he becomes 5 cm taller. When Berryblue asked why 5 cm, Frieza says anymore would be noticeable. Frieza's soldiers find Broly and Paragus and bring them to Earth at Frieza's request when they learn Vegeta, the son of King Vegeta is on Earth. On Earth, Frieza watches Broly fights Vegeta and asks Paragus if this is Broly's first real fight. Paragus says he has fought Broly several times but Frieza laughs at him and says that would be a no compared to Vegeta then. As the battle progresses, Frieza learns Broly can't turn into a Super Saiyan and kills Paragus to help him by framing Vegeta.
Frieza is then forced to fight Broly when Goku and Vegeta fly past him. He transforms into his Golden form but is still overwhelmed by Broly's power. Eventually, Gogeta appears, confusing Frieza as to who the heck they are. Frieza watches in awe of Gogeta's power, easily dominating and nearly killing Broly were it not for Frieza's soldiers turning on him to use the Dragon Balls to whisk Broly away. Frieza attempts to kill them but is stopped by Gogeta who gives him a chance to run away. Feeling how outclassed he is, Frieza steps down and leaves. Three days later, Frieza believes that if Broly can control his power he would be a great asset to the Frieza Force and trusts his henchmen who betrayed him to tame Broly. Frieza says that Goku and Vegeta are becoming a formidable team and by himself, he can't beat them especially able to do fusion, so he too needs a partner to win.
Video Games[]
Frieza is a playable character in the Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi series of video games for the PlayStation 2. In these games, the voices for all his forms sound the same (though his second and third forms sound slightly deeper than his first and fourth, barely noticeable). Also, the games give insight as to what Frieza's third form looks like with his tail completely intact (as it was cut off by Krillin before he transformed into his third form). Frieza's cyborg form, Mecha Frieza, is counted as a separate character rather than a transformation.
Shin Budokai[]
Frieza is the leader of most of the villains who escape from hell when Janemba returns and causes further havoc. Frieza immediately begins searching for the Dragon Balls, even fighting and defeating Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan along the way.
Shin Budokai - Another Road[]
Frieza's alternate timeline counterpart - Future Frieza appears in the side story Another Road. Future Frieza and Future Cell are resurrected by Future Babidi and brought to his timeline to assist him in resurrecting Future Majin Buu, Frieza joins in during the final battle of the game but is defeated and sent back to Hell.
Shin Budokai - Another Road takes place a few years after Dragon Ball Z.
Dragon Ball Fusions[]
When a timespace hole was detected, Tekka heads for it and investigates. What they did not expect is to cross paths with Frieza whom Captain Ginyu was looking forward to meet. Frieza also realizes that the world is something of fusion of everything. Frieza notes that if it was just two of Tekka's kind, he could handle them on his own.
However, he decides to deal with another nuisance and tells Ginyu to kill Tekka and company much to the latter's shock as they have cooperated with them and shown a fusion move and they should be spared.
Ginyu then asks for the form of fusion to be used, something his men agree to do with each pair carrying it out, which intrigues Frieza. However, he just calls Ginyu a "cloth-headed idiot" and asks what he was trying to do with "this stupid pose".
Frieza allows them to live in deference to being released from hell and has other things to do while he has Ginyu get rid of Tekka and company in a painful manner much to Ginyu's frustration but has to follow these orders.
When Tekka inspects another timespace hole, Goku yells for everyone to run when Cell emerges from it to wreak more havoc and take care of unfinished business with Goku who wanted some new blood called in.
Cell asks who it might be as he does not see Gohan in this spot and Goku tells him it is Tekka and company much to Cell's ire. Goku says to him that he cannot be so sure of them standing a chance against him and needs to train them.
Cell decides to go along with this as he wants to see Goku in a state of despair before leaving while he trains his friends in time for their fight with Cell. Goku and company return to Cell after training when he was seeking out who he will have the business on taking on first.
Cell proceeds to summon clones of himself from other dimensions and was interested in seeing the look of despair on his face. However, Goku manages to get help in dealing with most of the clones while Tekka and company deal with five.
After the defeat of the clones, Cell is furious at this defeat at the hands of the heroes and storms off.
Later on, during a tournament, Pinich arrives with Frieza and Cell as teammates much to the shock of Trunks and Goten. Frieza and Cell explain they arrived just to enjoy this tournament as round two of the semifinals are starting.
After the following Gogeta fight, Frieza cracks a quip of how the mighty have fallen. Vegeta warns Frieza that he will not have any hesitation blowing him out of the arena. Goku also tries to ask Frieza what he and Cell are up to in the final match before it was about to start.
After the fight, Cell and Frieza, with all the martial artists they've sought gathered, remind him of their claim of helping him get the recognition he desired. Cell also tells him that he owes it to his friend Tekka to fight at his full potential.
Pinich then vows to defeat Tekka while Frieza and Cell partake in the ultra fusion where they fuse with three other members of the team (including Pinich) to become Ultra Pinich as part of their plan to erase everyone at the arena and the entire world.
However, time was reversed back by Beerus and Whis to before the world was erased and contemplates destroying the beings forming Ultra Pinich if they are going to make such a mess for him although he does not know who the beings forming Ultra Pinich are.
Beerus also tries to stop the fused quintuple from escaping but does not succeed. Tekka and several allies proceed to seek out Ultra Pinich while everyone else deals with Beerus and Whis. During the manhunt, they get in contact with King Yemma and learn a timespace hole was opened and the world was in hellish danger as "most of the filth" got out.
Yemma does not know where Pinich was, but there were some spectacularly bad eggs that managed to escape hell. When they manage to find Ultra Pinch, he vanishes through a spacetime hole. Lacking the power to re-open it, Goten states they must do something while Pinich keeps Frieza and Cell in check.
What also happened as a result of Frieza and Cell merging was timespace suffering a massive distortion. This mandates the need to find the Dragon Balls in order to put a stop to this. After getting the Dragon Balls, the heroes summon Shenron in order to open the timespace hole Ultra Pinich fled into.
However, that wish cannot be granted as the world was created with the help of Beerus and sundering the fabric of timespace in the world will need a power to rival that of Beerus himself. Fortunately, Whis has the power necessary for opening it. Shenron also grants a wish that increases the heroes' power in order to open it.
At the other side of the hole, the heroes come across a ruined palace where Ultra Pinich, under the control of Frieza and Cell, launches a projectile at the heroes, ending their fusion. They proceed to give them the final showdown with Pinich with no intention of letting them win. Tekka and company then proceed to do battle with the Frieza & Cell-controlled Ultra Pinich along with two duplicates of Frieza and two duplicates of Cell.
After managing to best the fusion, Piccolo's cells fix the damage done to the Ultra Pinich fusion. After dropping their pride and fusing, Frieza & Cell demonstrate fury at their defeat and asks if there was no limit to how irritating they find the heroes.
They then proceed to power up the fusion, something they planned for Beerus, in order to try another shot at the heroes and subsequently destroy all of space completely before fighting the heroes again.
After defeating Ultra Pinich, he separates back into the five beings he was made of before falling into the spacetime hole. However, Tekka manages to save Pinich before he got sucked in much to the shock of Frieza.
Frieza reels in from the shock and admits that while the plan of him and Cell to kill all the martial artists at the temple failed, they proceed to fuse into Celluza in order to wipe them from the existence of timespace.
In order to stop Celluza, Tekka and Pinich fuse with another in order to fight the Frieza and Cell fusion. After besting Celluza, the two heroes split back into their normal forms and find themselves back at the Timespace Tournament arena.

He can also act as a mentor to the player.
Frieza plays a similar role to his role in the anime but his power is increased by Towa or Demigra in an attempt to mess with the timeline. In the last Saga, Frieza was resurrected with Buu and Cell in 778 and their power is further strengthened by Demigra.
Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2[]
As in the previous game, but the difference is that he is helped by his brother, Cooler during the destruction of Namek.
Towards the end of the game, Frieza appears in his second saga, when he returns as Golden Frieza and is once again helped by Cooler but in the form of Meta-Cooler.
As with the first game, outside of story mode, he can act as a mentor to the player and assist them on missions.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers[]
Frieza appears as a playable "raider" in the upcoming multiplayer survival video game Dragon Ball: The Breakers.
Powers and Abilities[]
Frieza has superhuman abilities and the ability to manipulate energy, like many other characters throughout the Dragon Ball series. However, these powers go far beyond what had previously been seen; even in his first form, his power level exceeds that of any character introduced up until that point by a factor of twenty. In a flashback to the genocide of the Saiyans, Frieza kills King Vegeta, the most powerful Saiyan at the time, with a single blow to the jaw. During the Namek saga, the only one who could handle his full power was Super Saiyan Goku, the rest struggled with his lesser forms. During Resurrection of F, he again trounced all the Z fighters except Goku and Vegeta in his base form. While admittedly weaker than Whis and Beerus at that time, he only lost to Vegeta and Goku because of his lack of training and refinement in his golden form. Later during the Tournament of Power, he remained equal to Super Saiyan Blue Goku (who is faster than Light Bullet Dyspo) and withstood blows from those far stronger than him (Toppo, Jiren, and beyond his limits Dyspo). This means he is strong enough to destroy an entire universe of he wanted.
Actual levels of speed and strength (not power level) to a normal human are never expressed and are essentially meaningless, Frieza can fly at a speed which exceeds Sound and later Light, and has shown remarkable physical strength, easily ripping a person's arm off. He has exceeded light speed in his true form by the time of the Tournament of Power and is stronger than individuals that can destroy planets with simple punches or even universes. He can also survive in space and transform to be able to use more of his power. Frieza has several signature techniques, such as the Death Ball, a powerful ball of energy that he generates from his fingertip and grows the more energy he puts into it. He usually uses this to unleash mass destruction, such as when he destroyed Planet Vegeta with one of its most powerful variants - the Supernova.
Another technique he used often was his Death Beam, a small but potent beam of energy also fired from his finger that he often used to quickly kill people. Frieza also possesses great ability to survive grievous injuries, able to survive getting sliced in half, being blasted by Goku's final energy attack, and even getting caught in Namek's explosion. In one video game, Frieza is revealed to be able to use the Kamehameha, Cell likely taught him this technique while in hell. Frieza can use the Kiai along with his own stronger version, "Don't Get So Cocky!"
Frieza also has powerful psychokinetic and telekinetic abilities, being able to levitate and throw large rocks and mountains, lift people, and freeze people in place. He can also combine his ki with telekinesis to form the Choeki Ball for imprisonment, which is almost impossible to escape from. Even Toppo, who can transform into an incomplete God of Destruction, had to put effort into escaping it.
In several video games, Frieza can transform into a fifth form (though only as a palette swap for Cooler). Frieza's fifth form is also referenced in Dragon Ball Online. This form makes Frieza stronger than Cooler.

Power Level[]
Frieza's power level in the first form is 530,000, in second from he has 1,060,000, in the third he has 2,120,000. When he changes to true form his power jumps to 12,000,000 (at 10%) and 120,000,000 at full power. In his video game-only Super Evolution, his power rises greatly.
When Frieza is revived and trains for four months his first form becomes so powerful than not even Ultimate Gohan (as Super Saiyan) is said to be any match for him. In his final form he possesses enough power to fight someone with the power of a Super Saiyan God, and upon taking on his Ultimate Evolution: Golden Frieza he is able to completely outmatch a Super Saiyan God SS without even bothering to fight seriously or use his full power, making Frieza (at 100% power) at least very close to Beerus' power. He was also powerful enough to land a few hits against Jiren and even harm a weakened version of him in his fourth form. This is despite Frieza himself sustaining heavy injuries throughout the Tournament of Power.
Other Media[]
In Fusion Reborn, Frieza is shown leading many villains out of hell, including Bojack, meaning that he had grown to become similar in power to a Super Saiyan 2.
Frieza's power appears to have increased drastically in Dragon Ball GT, as he can fight evenly with Goku (in base form) who had become more powerful than Majin Boo. Dragon Ball Z: Scouter Battle Taikan Kamehameha states that Frieza (at 10%) had a power level of 143,994,141. This means that at full power he would have a power level of 1,439,941,410.
In the opening of Budokai Tenkaichi 2, Frieza at max power is shown to be able to easily outmatch Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta. In the opening of Ultimate Tenkaichi and also in one of the promos for Dragon Ball Heroes, Frieza can match Super Saiyan Goku using only 10% of his power.
Frieza's power appears to have greatly improved by the time of Shin Budokai: Another Road, as, at 100% power he can fight and kill Broly (who in the game has power on par with Super Saiyan 3 Goku). Cooler and Cell were also subservient to him in this game, meaning he was stronger than both of them. He also defeated Super Saiyan Gotenks, and Paikuhan stated that his power was greater than Broly, Cooler, and Cell: making it over 1,400,000,000 (going by Broly's official power level). This makes this version of Frieza the most powerful one before he reappeared in canon.

Instead of ruling the universe with an iron fist, I was serenaded by teddy bears! | â |

~ Frieza expressing his scorn for the Zenos and promising that one day he will overthrow them. |
â | Jimizu: Fine, I'll dispense with you first! (Jimizu teleports behind Frieza and gets knocked away by his tail, sending the former into a rock, Frieza looms over him) Jimizu: How did you...? Frieza: Since I know about your proclivity for and overreliance on Instant Transmission, there's really nothing to it. (Jimizu teleports in the sky away from Frieza who promptly teleports behind him) Frieza: Ha ha ha! As I've previously stated, there's NOTHING TO IT! (Frieza punches Jimizu back down hard then proceeds to grab him with his tail and sadistically beats him into submission) Frieza: Ha ha ha ha! Thank you for the entertainment. (charges Death Beam) Gohan: NO FRIEZA, DON'T!! (Frieza shoots Jimizu anyway, shocking Heles and Pell) Pell: He killed him! He's disqualified! Frieza: What? Kill him? Do you honestly believe I could make such a foolish mistake? ~ Frieza agrees not to interfere in Goku's fight against Kale and Caulifla, just for the sake of violence. |
â | Dyspo: The answer is no. Your motive's obviously despicable. You're trying to play me, hoping that you alone can survive the seven fail. But I don't make deals with evildoers like you. Frieza: So now I'm evil. You use such silly words to describe the things we fear. If that's your answer then you leave no choice. It really is a pity. I'll simply have to use my true power to force you out of the tournament. You're probably having second thoughts about my offer but I'm afraid it's too late. Now then back to our melee. It's time for round two. |
â |
~ Frieza to Dyspo, after he refuses the deal. |
â | Jiren: So much effort just to keep a fallen ally in the ring, that will do you no good. Does the trust you place in your friends really make you so blind?! Frieza: Trust in friends? I think you're trying to make me vomit. Jiren: If I need to pummel him again, so be it. Frieza: He's just some extra insurance. But I do intend to claim the Super Dragon Balls for myself, so if you're smart then the only one you should be trying to pummel is me! I don't sense that astounding power from you anymore, seems to me you've lost your edge. Jiren: (glares at Frieza) Frieza: Here goes Jiren, you've had a taste of defeat and now you'll get the full course, served up by Yours Truly! |
â |
~ Frieza taunting Jiren - Part 1 |
â | Frieza: My my, what's happened to your stoic poker face? You seem a bit winded. Jiren: SHUT YOUR MOUTH! Frieza: That hard outer shell of strength has been cracked and now you're quite fragile, aren't you? It's as though I can hear the screaming in your tortured and wounded soul, I think you're terrified of being weak and helpless once again. (Jiren, now furious, slams his foot on Frieza's tail and starts beating him up) Jiren: You said I'm fragile, that my shell of strength has been cracked. LET'S SEE HOW FRAGILE YOU THINK I AM NOW!!! (prepares Power Impact) (Frieza uses telekinesis and sends two large boulders into Jiren, interrupting his attack) Frieza: Your rage is making you sloppy. (Android 17 tackles Jiren and prepares an energy sphere) Android 17: This time you'll get more than just a scratch! Jiren: I've learned your tricks! (Android 17 puts a barrier up, containing them both) Android 17: Wanna bet?! (Android 17's attack explodes and shatters the barrier containing them) Frieza: I didn't ask for help! |

Trivia[]
- He has a sons named Ize and Kuriza
- Frieza alongside King Piccolo, Cell, Super Buu, Black,Zamasu, Moro, and Xicor are the only Dragon Ball villains to be pure evil.
- In the Canadian English dub of Dragon Ball Z Kai, Frieza is voiced by Lee Tockar, who also voiced Bling Bling Boy in Johnny Test and Snips in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
- Frieza is completely unaware that Goku's real name was Kakarot.
- In the Latin American Spanish dub, he is referred to as Freezer.
- Although he was not the most powerful until Resurrection F and Dragon Ball Super (after training to reach the level of the gods, surpassing Cell and Majin Buu), Frieza is the most popular villain in Dragon Ball Z and one of its most iconic and recognizable characters, aside from Goku himself.
- Akira Toriyama has stated that Frieza is an amalgamation of what he believed monsters looked like in his childhood and that his character was inspired by real estate speculators (whom he believed to be the "worst kind of people"). The inspiration of his appearance referenced in Dragon Ball Z Kai, when Krillin says his second form is out of a nightmare.
- His 3rd form bears a notable resemblance to a Xenomorph, intentionally since Alien is one of Toriyama's favourite movies. This is humorously referenced in Team Four Star's Abridged Series; when Freeza asks Piccolo what he thinks of it, Piccolo replies "I think Ridley Scott's going to sue somebody.".
- Due to Frieza's status as the most recurring villain with numerous cameos, numerous video game appearances, being the main villain of a couple story arcs (The Namek Saga, Bardock: The father of Goku special, and Resurrection F, both the movie and its retelling in Super), and being the one of the only villains not to be redeemed as many fans consider Frieza to be the archenemy of both Goku and Vegeta. It is further supported by the fact that Cell is dead and has not returned to life as well as Buu being redeemed, alongside Piccolo and Vegeta, Frieza did not reform, continue to plague him beyond the grave and is now alive again. Even after the TOP, Frieza is at best, on less hostile terms with them both.
- Frieza's battle with Goku on Namek is the longest fight in anime history, reaching 3.5 hours long.
- Frieza is the only villain to have been resurrected twice. All the others are just out of hell without being resurrected.
- There's also another counterpart of Frieza in universe 6 which name is Frost but also he's much less evil and honorable that he accepts Hit's offer to join Team Universe 6.
- Coincidentally, while Dragon Ball Super reached the part in Universal Survival Arc where Frieza joined his archenemy Goku in exchange of his resurrection, One Piece (its anime series) reached the part in Whole Cake Island Arc where Caesar Clown was forced to work with Straw Hat Pirates to assassinate Big Mom in order to prevent himself from being killed. Its cherries on the top are: both of them "helped" the heroes for their gain instead of a genuine change of heart, both of them are voiced by Ryƫsei Nakao, and both of them succeeded in the end and went free.
- Frieza can be considered a foil to Goku (which is very fitting) and also Vegeta. Unlike Goku (who was born extremely weak, had to train to get stronger, occasionally shows his enemies mercy, and rejected his violent Saiyans ways of conquest), Frieza at birth was very powerful, never had to train a single day in his life, rarely shows mercy, and took over 70% of Universe 7. If Goku hadn't lost all his memories of being a Saiyan following a head injury he suffered as a baby, he would have become like Frieza. He is also an example of what Vegeta would have become if he did not decide to giving up his evil ways, (mostly) does not value fair fights, and is more pragmatic while Vegeta rarely surrenders or pleads for mercy.
- Frieza is the only villain to survive to a Genkidama, Kid Buu dies and Goku has never used it against Cell who dies by Gohan with a Kamehameha. Vegeta, on the other hand, did survive a far weaker version.
