Role in the film[]
At the time the prince was cursed, Maestro Fife was turned into a piccolo. He worked for the maestro, a musician-turned-pipe organ known as Forte. He loved the holidays, but the maestro wanted to be the only person Beast needed, so that the spell would not break, so he sent Fife as a spy for him. When Fife sees that Belle was celebrating Christmas with the servants, he tells Forte, who tells Beast, who became enraged about it. When he follows Belle, he freaks out and startles Philippe, causing him to break the ice, resulting in chip nearly drowning, then Belle, until Beast saved her and locked her up in the dungeon. Fife is remorseful of his actions and has a change of heart.
