Ezra Spurnrose is the secondary antagonist during the first season of the TV series Carnival Row. He is a ruthless, greedy and megalomaniacal lord who controls the house of the Spunrose family, and receives a higher share than his sister, Imogen Spunrose.
He is portrayed by Andrew Gower.
History[]
After his father passes away, he and his sister share the house for themselves and he becomes a dominant, wealthy lord and businessman. While he manipulates his father's clockwork business for more gain, his sister rather sticks to the father's traditions and his well manners. He at first tells his sister Imogen that he is going to discuss with his bank workers about her loan. He later hires a new faun from the wild who has a friendly chat with his sister but eventually they fight and he threatens to make her and Ezra's life a misery, due to their arrogance.
Ezra then intends to buy a new ship so he could travel to The Burgue and meet the place's royal family and it's Chancellor. However, on the same day, Imogen begs him to employ the faun (his name is Agreus) and accept him like he would accept humans. Ezra disagrees, but is not asked by Imogen to give his permission. Despite having lots of money, he blames Imogen and Agreus for bringing the family to it's financial doomsday and letting him have much less money than his father had. Later, Ezra becomes envious of Imogen's relationship with Agreus. He attempts to shoot Agreus, but with Imogen's help, the two escape from Ezra's wrath. Ezra then watches as they steal his boat to escape and reach a far away land together, as he declares his revenge on them.
