Edgar "E" Gore is the central antagonist of Tim Burton's 2012 Disney film Frankenweenie. He is a hunchbacked student at Victor's school who discovers Sparky's resurrection and blackmails Victor in teaching him how to create life, revealing it to the other students and unleashing mayhem upon the town. While not inherently malicious, Edgar's actions instigate the conflict of the film.
He was voiced by Atticus Shaffer.
Description[]
Edgar is a malicious hunchbacked and malformed boy without friends. He also almost always messes up while wanting to be accepted by others. He wears only black and gray striped clothes and his fingers are long and bony. His physical appearance is surely the source of his isolation by his comrades.
History[]
When Mr. Rzykruski arrived in the classroom, Edgar explained to him that their former teacher had been injured by being struck by lightning. When Rzykruski distributes a form on a science competition, Edgar does not wait to ask Victor to be his partner. The latter refuses however, to the annoyance of Edgar.
During a baseball game, Edgar is in the stands eating a sandwich but drops the meat there.
One day, when the resurrected Sparky chases after Mr. Whiskers, he is spotted by Edgar who decides to visit Victor. He repeatedly tells him that he "knows" and excitedly reveals that he knows about Sparky and finds it incredible. He manipulates Victor who shows him how he revived it even though Edgar doesn't listen to him. He asks him to show him how to do it in exchange for his silence.
Edgar then retrieves a dead fish for a second experiment, but the animal becomes invisible. Either way, Edgar keeps it with him and swears he won't tell anyone. However, he will immediately brag to Toshiaki and Bob who are afraid of not winning the science fair.
The next day, skeptical Nassor asked to see his fish but he was no longer in the bowl. Frightened, Edgar runs to see Victor and thinks that what is revived is only present for a certain time before disappearing again.
Later, he goes to the baseball field where he accidentally reveals the secret about Sparky. So Edgar decides to show Victor's laboratory to his comrades.
Then he rummages in a trash can and finds a rat corpse. He goes into the classroom and prepares to resuscitate the animal. His experience, like that of others, goes wrong and the rat turns into a were-rat, which horrifies Edgar who leaves the room running.
He fled to the Dutch party, chased by the Sea Creatures and chased again by the were-rat. Edgar is last seen behind Elsa fighting the rat.
