Ebenezer Lynxley is the overarching antagonist of Disney's 64th full-length animated feature film, Zootopia 2, the second installment of the Zootopia franchise.

He is Milton's grandfather who was reportedly among the early founders who helped establish Zootopia, but turns out to be a fraud in reality, who took credit for the work of Agnes De’Snake and framed her for the murder of his tortoise maid, which not only branded all reptiles as dangerous, but banished them from Tundratown for many decades, and he died without getting some comeuppance for his actions.

Appearance[]

Ebenezer is depicted as an overweight lynx with a thick, full mustache. He is typically dressed in a vest and top hat, and often carries a cane.

Personality[]

Initialy, Ebenezer was presented as a well known businessman who helped build Zootopia to simulate the habitats of each animal. However, this was a facade as it was he was a cunning, treacherous and sadistic individual who stole the credit of the creation of Zootopia from Agnes De’Snake. As shown with his interactions with Agnes and his tortoise maid, he was clearly racist towards reptiles, as he murdered his own maid after she witnessed him stealing credit from Agnes’ idea, and framed Agnes for the murder and that caused reptiles to be forcefully exiled from Tundratown and used propaganda to paint them, especially snakes, as evil and dangerous creatures, which led to Zootopia to be an exclusive mammal society, and he died thinking no one would ever discover his crimes only for Judy and Nick, with the help of Agnes’ great-grandson Gary, to find Agnes’ patent and expose the Lynxleys’ crimes to the public.

Biography[]

Ebenezer was a wealthy and successful businessman who lived in a ramshackle town inhabited by various animals, such as snakes, lizards, giraffes, and others. One day he was approached by Agnes De’Snake, a pit viper who saw the tough times everybody was going through, and had created plans for Zootopia, a gigantic city that used mechanical "weather-walls" to simulate the habitats of each animal, allowing all animals to live together. Ebenezer saw the potential profits in the city, and agreed to fund the operation.

However, Ebenezer secretly stole the journal, ripped out Agnes' patent, and forged a false patent claiming he wrote the journal in its place. After his tortoise maid witnessed him commit the crime, Ebenezer injected her with pit viper venom and killed her, and then framed Agnes for the crime. The incident led to a wave of anti-reptile sentiment sweeping the area, and the location that was soon to become Zootopia gradually become an exclusively mammalian civilization, with all reptiles eventually being exiled from the city.

By then, Ebenezer became known as the city's engineer, and achieved unprecedented fame and success in the town. As a result, the Lynxley family became one of the most respected and famous families in Zootopia, and according to his great-grandson Pawbert, Ebenezer died thinking no one would ever find out his crimes. However, years later, police officers Judy Hopes and Nick Wilde discovered the truth with the help of Agnes's great grandson Gary, and together they exposed the Lynxley family for their crimes.

In the end, following the Lynxley family's arrest, Agnes gets the praise and respect that she deserved for creating Zootopia while Ebenezer gets reviled as a fraud for stealing Agnes' work.

Ebenezer and his family are the first main antagonists in the Zootopia franchise to be predators.
