~ Douglas taking offense |
Douglas Twinkmeyer is a minor character in the Disney television series Goof Troop and the main antagonist of the episode "Lethal Goofin'".
Background[]
He became chief of the School Safety Force sometime prior to the episode and abused his power to become popular as well.
Appearance[]
Douglas is a short anthropomorphic dog with red hair that covers his top. He bears a striking resemblance to Tom and Jerry character Droopy. He wears a tan uniform.
Abilities[]
Douglas is described as a know-it-all, suggesting a vast amount of intelligence, especially for the following reasons:
- He is an astrologer.
- He pulled off a highly thought-up scheme.
- He used the back way to get ahead of Max and P.J..
Role in the series[]
Season 1[]
He took a math test along the other students n ".
He was also on the baseball team in "Take Me Out of the Ball Game".
Lethal Goofin'[]
He is first introduced when Max and P.J. come into his office to get assigned as safety men. Initially he refused, but after they beat another bully, he had no choice. It is revealed that he lives under the name of "Mr. Big" who had bully henchmen to do his bidding (i.e., stealing milk money).

Douglas scheming
Douglas' cover was nearly blown after Max and P.J. threatened Nails to tell them who "Mr. Big" was; he slingshot gum at his mouth just before he could mention his name to keep his identity a secret. Then he tried to avoid being discovered as the culprit by hiding in his locker and then fell out. He does his best to cover up for it and tells the boys to take a break. Instead, they tried to show him they caught Nails, but Nails was gone. Douglas pretends to suspect them and then tells them again to "go home".
Later in his office, he scolded Nails for nearly revealing him. But he also mentioned to Tooth and Nails that they stole enough money to buy up the Lefty McGuffin baseball cards. The two boys look unsure but Douglas assures them that it would "be very legal".
When Max and P.J. try to figure out where they should have their stake-out, Douglas redirects them to the spot where his henchmen were buying up the baseball cards. Just as planned, he tricked the heroic duo into disgracing themselves. Later, Douglas embarrasses them by adding it into the school newspaper, destroying their reputations. Acting as he was no part of it, he strips them of their title and happily smashes their uniform belt straps after removing them.
Max notices something fishy about the newspaper he, P.J. and Pistol were reading: Douglas Twinkmeyer was not only the editor in chief, but also the photographer! They discover that Douglas Twinkmeyer took the picture of Max and P.J. in the alley. Then Max realized all the clues added up and pointed to him. Max concluded that "Mr. Big" was Douglas, but P.J. was skeptical since he was "the most respected kid in school", not to mention chief of the School Safety Patrol. Despite his best friend's doubts, Max goes off to confront Douglas.
The door was locked, so Max tells P.J. to bust it open, which he does. Sure enough, Tooth and Nails were standing at Douglas' side, to which Max tells him he is "Mr. Big". Douglas pops his bubblegum at this and congratulates them for their deductive skills, but tells them that nobody would believe them since he was "the most respected kid" at school. Max is disgusted at Douglas' motives and Douglas shows P.J. a Lefty McGuffin baseball card, but when P.J. says everybody has one, Douglas asks him where his is.
P.J. told him that he sold it to one of his bully henchmen and realized he was duped. Max told him they went into market, to which Douglas tells him he catches on fast. He takes it back when Max asks him about his plot. Max didn't get the point about owning a bunch of Lefty baseball cards, until Douglas says, "Try one." Douglas had intended the cards to be eliminated except for one remaining.
Although admitting he would not do such a thing, his mother would. The cards would be put in a washing machine and soak the cards to nothing. He laughed evilly at this, much to the anger of both Max and P.J.. After Max gets P.J. to attack them, which he did, Douglas and his posse chased after the two, but reached the washing machines before they did (via the back way). After P.J. takes out the bullies, he gets stuck, so Max distracts Douglas by telling him his mother was calling him. Douglas then immediately catches Max with the cards and tries to snatch them back, but gets wiped out by the flood from the washing machine.
With his plan foiled, he gets assigned to patrolling what Max referred to as "the most dangerous turf of all": Pistol Pete's preschool.
Educating Goofy[]
He appears in Max's class along with other students, and laughs with them when the teacher finds a lizard in her drawer. He is later surprised that Goofy found an unusual species and got praised by the teacher. He appears again when Goofy asked a lot of questions and gets praised by the teacher again. He later appears to see Goofy was chosen for student body president and cheers him on.
Season 2[]
Queasy Rider[]
He appears among other kids and joins them in laughing at Max when his dad Goofy comes to pick him up and witnesses Goofy play a motorcycling video game knocking down the other consoles in the process like in the Domino Effect.
Relationships[]
Mrs. Twinkmeyer[]
Douglas' own mother seems to be a nice lady and obviously cares a lot about her son. She also seems to care about him so much that she would help her son in his scheme.
Tooth and Nails[]
Sometime after Douglas became chief of safety, he hired Tooth and Nails to steal the baseball cards so nobody would notice this as abnormal and that nobody would suspect him. It could be assumed that he encountered bullying from them, prior to their alliance, but earned their respect after getting his position. His connection with them is so strong, the two are extremely loyal to their leader. It is currently unknown if their alliance is currently intact or dissolved.
Trivia[]
- He seems to have a recolor in "Queasy Rider" as opposed to "Lethal Goofin'".
- Judging by his other episode appearances, it is possible he has partially reformed.
