Demons are Monsters kept inside the Facility. They were listed on the whiteboard, but were not bet on, nor were they seen at during the System Purge.
Physical Descriptions and Attributes[]
The appearances, characteristics, and number of Demons is unknown, as they are not seen at anytime during the film. However, illustrations of demonic-looking humanoids can be seen in the film's visual companion, bearing extreme similarities to the Dismemberment Goblins, and its very possible that the Demons are similar in appearance: humanoid beings with terrifying features; wings, long and pointy teeth, horns, etc. However, if the Demons' appearances are separate from the Dismemberment Goblins, their descriptions are unknown. Demons and devilish creatures are present in an array of religions and mythologies, so there are many different possibilities of how they could look and behave.
In the The Cabin's Cellar, it is unknown what object directly summons them. However, depending on the type of Demons and where they originate from, its possible that a demonic artifact or something associated with demons or evil spirits could work.
Appearances[]
The Demons do not make an appearance in the film. It's possible they were designed to be filler Monsters. However, in behind the scenes footage and the visual companion, artwork and character models were designed that depict demonic looking humanoid characters, so its very possible the Demons were meant to have screen time but were cut in the film's final version.
Inspiration[]
Demons are one of the oldest known antagonists in Ancient Mesopotamian religion, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Celtic mythology, literature, European folklore, and modern media. Some demons are said to not have a physical body at all, but could affect humans and living things through energy or bad luck.
In literature and movies, demons are usually represented in one of three forms. One is that of very ancient beings forgotten on Earth, such as the those in the Chthulu Mythos. The second type are evil gods from ancient mythology, such as Baal or Pazuzu, and are usually assisted by hordes of lesser demons or goblins. The third type are the evil spirits of human beings who continue to exist by feasting on the souls of the living, such as Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
