Dark Raiden appears as minor antagonist from Titan Shang Tsung's Timeline. He is a corrupted version of the Thunder Wielder Raiden. He was voiced by Richard Epcar (who also voiced the Joker in the same franchise, Yhwach in Bleach, Akuma in Street Fighter V, Ansem, Seeker of Darkness and Terra-Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts and Skywarp in Transformers: War for Cybertron), and by Travis Willingham (who also voiced Kugo Ginjo in Bleach, Zetsu in Naruto, Two-Face in Batman: The Telltale Series, Kingpin in Marvel's Spider-Man and Onslaught in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron) and in Mortal Kombat 1.

Biography[]

Dark Raiden would be among Titan Shang Tsung's forces when he elected to invade Liu Kang's New Era. When his master revealed himself, the Dark versions of Raiden, Sindel, and Geras joined him. Raiden and Sindel were left to battle Liu Kang's forces, and Raiden was able to electrocute the majority of them, and blasted Mileena back before she could get a hit on him. However, when her Tarkat infection took over, she wrathfully faced him, which Raiden was dismissive of. While he and Sindel were well-matched against her, Mileena managed to defeat him. During the Battle of Armageddon, a Dark Raiden was seen among the Order of Darkness, and was taken out by the playable Final Warrior.

An alternate version of Dark Raiden features as the main antagonist of Invasions Mode Season 5: Storms.
