~ Crimson subtly threatening his son, Moxxie by showing him the numerous dead bodies of people he's drowned after forcing him to drown a demon, including that of his mother; his infamous quote. |
Crimson Knolastname is one of the overarching antagonists of the adult animated black comedy web series Helluva Boss. He is the abusive father of Moxxie and a vicious crime lord within the Greed Ring of Hell. With his criminal empire on the brink of suffering from a financial collapse, Crimson reached out to I.M.P in order to re-establish connection with Moxxie and force him into marrying Chazwick Thurman in order to inherit his supposed wealth and keep his criminal operations afloat. He is one of Moxxie's two archenemies (alongside Striker), the secondary antagonist of Season 2.
Just like his son, he is voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz, who also voiced Zim in Invader Zim, Kaos in the Skylanders franchise, Dr. Chipotle Jr. in El Tigre, Daggett from The Angry Beavers, Sheshou in Mulan, Aviarius in Kim Possible, Stuart Zurgo in Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault, and the Monster Convict from Superjail!.
Biography[]
Backstory[]
Crimson at some point in his life became the leader of a mafia family in the Ring of Greed, and married an unnamed woman and had a son named Moxxie. However, because of how fragile and insecure Moxxie was, Crimson felt contempt for his personality. His mother trained Moxxie from his childhood to know how to shoot.
One day, he tried to convince Moxxie to kill a demon he had tied up, but his wife stopped him, which would later caused them to have an argument which ended with Crimson slapping his wife before she left. Crimson would then tie a male demon and put a bag on his face before bringing both him and Moxxie to a river, where he used to kill his enemies by drowning them.
After he forced Moxxie to kill the unnamed demon, Crimson told him not to forget about it, as that was what happened to people who cross, with it then being implied that he killed his wife, as her shoe is shown in the many belongings of Crimson's previous victims. Because of his actions, Moxxie would decide to leave his family and would later start working for the I.M.P after he met Blitzo while he was imprisoned for robbing a bank.
Exes and Oohs[]
One day, Moxxie's former boyfriend Chazwick would lie to him about being rich so he could get in his crime family, which Crimson accepted, as he was in need of money to sustain his operations. He would then contact Blitzo to bring IMP (including his son, Moxxie) to his house to meet him.
Crimson would then tell them about how Chazwick would become a new member of his family, and during this, Moxxie talked back at his father. After the rest of the I.M.P and Chaz left, Crimson threatened Moxxie that if he talked back to him again, he would kill him and Millie.
The next day, Crimson would tell Moxxie that he would marry Chaz, but when Moxxie refused and finally stood up to him, Crimson had his henchman tase him to unconsciousness, and would bring him to his backyard to have him officially married to Chaz, but Millie kills his henchmen and saves Moxxie.
Blitzo would then tell Crimson that Chaz lied to him about his money before leaving, which would lead to Crimson to kill Chaz. Crimson is later seen putting Chaz's jaw in his chair as decoration and throws a knife at a picture of Moxxie, vowing revenge.
Oops[]
Eventually, Crimson has an interview with Striker who seeks to join his gang. In response, Crimson tells him to bring something of value, which Striker responds by lassoing Fizzarolli and Blitzo whom he noticed outside. Interested, Crimson has a message sent to Asmodeus with intent on holding Fizz for ransom.
While Ozzy works on the paperwork with Stolas there to ensure that he doesn't make the mistake of signing anything that would keep him from actually getting Fizz back, Crimson has Fizz and Blitzo put in a cage. However, the two manage to escape, prompting Crimson to send his men and Striker to capture them. With the danger they are in, Blitzo convinces Fizz to put on a distraction while he work on creating an escape for them through a window.
Blitzo blows the base up with Crimson and his men inside. Crimson's fate is currently unknown, but Striker's survival of the building's destruction could be an indication that Crimson is still alive too.
Personality[]
“ | *smiles* Next time, just tell me if your dad is a psychopath --- I can handle it. | „ |
~ Millie describing Crimson to Moxxie. |
Crimson is a charismatic person who first acts polite towards the members of the I.M.P. However, when he's all alone with Moxxie, it's revealed why the latter fears him so much, as he was abusive towards him since his childhood, and forced him to kill a random imp to teach him a lesson about what happened to those who were against him. He is also very deceptive, as seen with his manipulation of Blitzo, acting like a charming and civil figure at first, only to reveal his brutal and ruthless nature behind closed doors.
Crimson appears to resent his son a great deal, being extremely angered and offended by Moxxie having left his family, seeing this act as his son believing that he’s too good for them. He was willing to force his son to marry Chaz in order for their family to receive the latter’s money (which it turns out Chaz lied about), not caring about Moxxie already being married or his feelings on the matter, stating that this was for Moxxie to finally be useful to his family.
He also is homophobic, as he believes that Moxxie would like a room filled with dildos, and failed to see him being bisexual as different to being completely homosexual. Crimson is also a sexist, as he calls Millie a broad and questions how she is capable of killing his henchmen due to her being just a woman. Crimson also shows little to no tolerance towards failure or betrayal, as he yelled at his henchmen for failing to kill Millie, and killed Chaz for lying about being rich.
Trivia[]
- His dining room contains, among other pictures, one of himself and a demon version of Vito Corleone.
- Despite his first defeat since the events of Oops, it is very likely that Crimson survived the destruction of his hangar, since he is not only seeking revenge on the I.M.P (including his son Moxxie), but also on Asmodeus for ruining his plans for Fizz to forgive himself to Blitzo for his accident.
