The Confederacy of Independent Systems also known as the Separatists was the antagonistic group of Star Wars during Episodes II & III of the Movie series and the 2003 micro-series, and also the 2008 The Clone Wars series. It was a group against the Galactic Republic. The Separatists moved away from the Republic since they believed they were too corrupt. Count Dooku formed the Confederacy of Independent Systems to draw in small planetary governments who hate the republic to aid him in his plot to overthrow the Republic convincing them that it is being done so to better the lives of the people when in actuality he is an apprentice of the evil sith lord Darth Sidious who is only trying to get rid of the Republic so that Sidious (under the guise as Chancellor Palpatine) can recreate it into the totalitarian Galactic Empire. Darth Sidious was their true leader with Dooku and his apprentice turned successor (following Dooku's death) General Grievous being the ones running the Confederacy while the Separatist Council was back-up for the CIS.
