CC-2224 (nicknamed "Cody") is a supporting character in the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, a major character in the 2008-2020 animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the deuteragonist of the Star Wars: The Bad Batch episode "The Solitary Clone".

He was a clone marshal commander, leading the 3rd Systems Army and the 212th Battalion along with General Obi-Wan Kenobi. Cody was one of the most notable and important clones during the Clone Wars and in the Republic, serving as Kenobi's right-hand man and the leader of important war shifts. Although Cody later joined the Empire, as he attempted to execute Kenobi when Order 66 was received by all clone commanders, He later had a crisis of conscience, resulting in him deserting Imperial service out of disgust with the Empire's methods.

Like all the other Clone Troopers, he is portrayed in live-action by Temuera Morrison who also played Boba Fett and voiced by Dee Bradley Baker in animated works.

Personality[]

Cody was a loyal and gruff no nonsense commander, who shared a mutual friendship with General Kenobi. Based on his battlefield experience and leadership skills earned him respect by fellow Jedi and clone troopers. He was also, good friends with Captain Rex and worked with him. As a veteran of the Clone Wars and a clone trooper, he had a lot of hatred for non-clone troopers whom he instructed on Kamino. Once the stations of Kamino were destroyed, Cody was reassigned to the field once again, leading his own squad. At this time, a growing skepticism of the Empire's nature started to take place. Following a mission to Desix, Cody deserted the Empire after seeing the death of several brothers and Governor Tawasi Ames, who he had promised to spare.

In spite of his preference for cautiousness, Cody was also prone to mistakes, especially early in the war. On one occasion, he ordered a reckless assault, leading to the deaths of an entire squadron. He expressed remorse and guilt for his decision, and attempted to avenge them by killing the enemy commander, Gorgol. His missed shot was misconstrued as restraint by Obi-Wan. He was adept in combat and used a variety of weapons. Not being afraid to lead by example, he frequently fought on the front lines and even used melee combat against opponents when necessary. During the Siege of the Tambor Deep Space Centre, he did not have enoguh time to put on his helmet but fought regardless. He also was a capable pilot, and successful in starfighter combat.

Biography[]

Commander Cody leads the 212th Attack Battalion and was Obi-Wan Kenobi's second-in-command. A cautious but highly capable soldier, he and Captain Rex have become close friends over a number of missions.

Few Jedi and clone officers develop a bond as close as the one between Obi-Wan and Commander Cody. Engagements at places such as Ryloth, Black Stall Station, and Geonosis have taught Cody to respect Obi-Wan's skill as a warrior, and Kenobi has come to trust that Cody would never let him down. Cody fought loyally and bravely alongside General Kenobi on many missions in the Clone Wars, including Lola Sayu and Utapau. They had established an easy-going pact.

During the Battle of Utapau, Commander Cody led his team of men into Pau City, along with Parjai Squad and various other paratrooping squads. During the attack, Kenobi dropped his lightsaber, which hit the ground in front of him, and he would later return it to the General.

As Obi-Wan engaged Grievous in a fierce lightsaber duel, Cody battled the droid forces. It was during the fighting that he received Order 66 via an encrypted channel from Darth Sidious. Despite being comrades-in-arms with Kenobi, Cody's loyalty was suppressed by his clone indoctrination(his control chip). In response, Cody ordered one of his AT-TEs to fire at Kenobi and his varactyl mount, Boga, causing the two to plummet to the bottom of the sinkhole.

About a year after the Empire's formation, Cody reunited with Crosshair, the lone member of the Bad Batch, who was the only who still served the Empire (after it was Republic). Crosshair joined Cody's squad on a mission to the Separatist holdout world of Desix. After their ship was shot down, Cody led the surviving members of the squad into the city, eventually taking Crosshair, Wyler, and Nova to rescue the hostage, Grotton, the Imperial-appointed governor of Desix. Cody eventually made a deal with the acting governor, Tawni Ames, promising to work out a peaceful resolution in exchange for Grotton's freedom. However, when Grotton ordered Ames to be executed and Crosshair complied, Cody questioned whether or not the Empire's actions were truly meant to establish peace. Following the return to Coruscant, Cody admitted these thoughts to Crosshair, and went AWOL soon after abandoning the Empire.

Cody first made a LEGO appearance in 2005, as a playable character in LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game. Cody's character model for this game is based upon the Star Corps Trooper with an orange pauldron.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars[]

Cody makes a comeback in 2011 for LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. He appears in the mission Rookies, and his Bounty Hunter mission.

Master Hand-To-Hand Combatant: As a Clone Commander, Cody is extremely skilled in unarmed combat, as all Clone commanders were put through the same training as ARC troopers.
Master Marksman: As a Clone Commander, Cody is extremely skilled in utilizing blaster pistols and blaster rifles.
High-Level Intellect/Master Tactician/Leader: Cody is highly intelligent. As a Clone Commander, Cody is an extremely skilled tactician and a capable leader. Many of the strategies that he and Rex used were later utilized by the Empire to train their officers, showing that Cody's ability as a commander was highly regarded, despite the Empire's prejudices against clones.
